Why not cast Grant Gustin for the part? He is definitely the greatest Barry Allen ever, and a great young actor!

Edit 2022: OK, Ezra, move aside, it's Grant's turn!
I do not deny Ezra was good too, and that the last seasons of Flash have been week sauce (I do agree that most baddies are converted to good after a nice speech, nonetheless I'll keep watching it till the end, I'm that kind of viewer...), but Grant is an established Flash, great actor and apparently a calmer human being than Ezra at the moment. :P
Sorry, I'm team Grant! :)

Because Ezra Miller is an amazing actor with so few roles. Plus he's slightly hotter than Grant Gustin. \

because that would mean that legends of tomorrow and supergirl are canon within the DCEU

because DC said the TV shows and the Movies are separate universes . . . for some weird reason. Though to say he is the greatest Barry isn't really that hard as there has only been two live action Barry Allen versions. Grant Gustin and John Wesley Shipp are really the only people who actually played Barry Allen. It is really cool that this new series made John Wesley Shipp be Barry's dad, that's pretty awesome.

@v3ro75 DC Comics/Entertainment wants to keep the film universe (the DC Extended Universe) and the tv-series universe (often called the DC CW universe or the Arrowverse) ==separate from each other==. That means casting different actors/actresses for the same role in the DCEU than they did in the DCCW universe.

As DC’s Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns said: “It’s a separate universe than film so that the filmmakers can tell the story that’s best for film, while we explore something different in a different corner of the DC universe.”

Casting Grant Gustin for this film would've muddled the waters too much and would, on top of that, have been rather confusing, given past statements from DC about keeping the two universes separate (see the first and second paragraph).

See the DCEU and DCCW universe as two different sets of Earths (and other planets). They co-exist, but they don't know of each other's existence and can't travel to each other's universes.

Some further reading:

- https://www.cinemablend.com/television/What-DC-Calling-Its-Split-Universe-Why-Everything-Being-Kept-Separate-67994.html
- https://screenrant.com/dc-superhero-movies-tv-shows-crossover/

@v3ro75 Watch the new season. Just him defeating bad guys with pep talks. He was good in it but now he is too goodie goodie in the role in a sickening sort of way.

@v3ro75 Gustin works as the goody goody words matter CW Flash. Which I found more punchable as the seasons went on lol.

@v3ro75 probably because the 2 projects have literally nothing to do with each other aside from being about the same character. It would make no sense and would be confusing to have the same actor play the character in two totally separate universes.

@v3ro75 how did you even get to comment 7 years before the film release? And a top comment without being an actual review or commentary of the actual film? Can we get this removed please?

@xaliber Sorry if you don't know how to use Trakt, but comments for future releases are open, and my comment is not about the film itself, I actually commented even before the movie started shooting. So please, mind your own business if you have reading comprehension issues. There is no reason to remove my comment, but there's reason for you to go back and read the site terms and conditions.

Grant Gustin should have been given the role of Barry. I mean, he's doing a wonderful job on the show and is a terrific actor. Why create this huge chasm between the TV and cinematic universe by casting different actors for the same character, when there's already a great Barry that everyone loves?

@abtr actually the flash got pretty boring/ridiculous. And Grant is a very whiney Flash. Terrific Actor? Sources?

@hildebread honestly, I've kinda stopped watching because of of bad it got. But that is the writer's fault. Same with Barry's character turning super annoying.
I still think Grant is a great actor. He's just been getting really crappy material to work with recently.

@abtr because they are totally separate universes. They're not even _parallel_ universes. It's not a multiverse thing. They are totally different studios and everything. It would be too confusing to have the same actor play the character in both completely unrelated projects.

How do all these Unreleased movies have ratings already? It bothers me that people are even able to rate before its released. I hope Trakt.tv fixes this issue. If anyone sees a reason for rating a movie before its release please let me know. Enlighten me. (Update)- Now I get it. People are rating the movie trailers. Maybe Trak.tv should have a movie trailer section.

Just when you think you hit rock bottom with Black Adam and Wonder Woman 84, DC find a way to disappoint you even more. This was awful. I'm heartbroken at how terribly these characters have been portrayed. Terrible writing. Terrible direction. Terrible acting. Terrible VFX. Everyone phoned it in on this movie.

We all really enjoyed the movie. I honestly don't have anything bad to say about it. The action scenes and story were good. Ezra sells the character of the Flash. It was great to see Michael as Batman again. Great cameos and I liked Sasha as Kara.

>You should seek the services of a mental health professional. The Justice League isn't very good at that part yet. Trust me.

The Flash / Ezra Miller

Like the elephant show in the circus: The Flash a big spectacle but not all that interesting.

The story is (like what you clean up after the elephant show) kind of all over the place and it stinks.

The time travel premise has been done to death and the fact the setting of the movie is an alternate universe makes the whole show feel like a collapsed circus tent: no stakes.

There were a couple of fun cameos but the rest of The Flash wasn't enough to make me forget everything Miller has been accused of in recent years.

Just finished watching in IMax and what a entertaining, enjoyable and fan fodder feeder of a film!

Ezra certainly played this part with passion and the whole movie kept at a steady pace that the right chemistry of fun, action and the odd "yes" moment ;)

I will certainly go and do a rewatch and order the steelbook.

I havent applauded so much in a movie before. Wow this is a fun movie batfleck is in his best performance as Batman and I’m not going into details with all the cameos. Bravo. Can’t wait to see the end credits scene since wasn’t available at the test screening but I would definitely watch it again right now. Now can we have justice league 2 please.

If they won't give us Grant Gustin, at least give us someone other than Ezra Miller as The Flash.

I'm glad to know that Zack Synder is not involved in directing or writing this movie.

People, literally every fan, for the past 10 years: We love Grant Gustin, cast him as The Flash.
DC: How about no?
Ezra Miller: *does despicable acts of terror and becomes known for it across THE ENTIRE PLANET*
40k people on Trakt.tv: hehe flosh go zoom, let's support a criminal, hehe
Honestly, humanity is a joke if anyone actually pays to see this and theaters and DC deserve to burn in hell and we who know better can finally devote our lives to chaos, because obviously only people who do so can thrive in this world
