Easily one of the best thrillers of the 90's with great work by the entire cast.

The days when exciting thrillers like "The Fugitive" were a big deal in theaters are unfortunately long gone. And I seriously hope that this will change again at some point. These days, films of this kind tend to be released on streaming services, and I don't want to say much about their quality.

Be that as it may, in the 1990s, Netflix and co. were still far away, so a movie like this could become one of the most successful of the year. And it achieves this with fairly simple means, above all with strong actors and a suspenseful cat-and-mouse game. The mystery surrounding the murder of the wife of Dr. Richard Kimble (Harrison Ford) falls a little short, but there is certainly a reason why the film was not considered for the screenplay category when it received seven Oscar nominations.

However, the rather thin plot is hardly a problem at all because the tension is so high throughout that the viewer is never forced to delve too deeply into all the details. For me, "The Fugitive" is therefore definitely always a highlight.

A by-the-numbers plot is elevated to a much stronger film by the relentless pace and two great central performances. Harrison Ford can play this sort of everyman role in his sleep, sympathetic as the broken man wrongly accused of the murder of his wife, but convincing as the hero out to find the truth. Equally important to the film however is Tommy Lee Jones as the man assigned to chase him down and it is both men's relentlessness that form the backbone to the film and keep the tension levels high throughout. The resolution to the film is a little weak with a final reveal that is not really surprising and a last act sequence that cannot match the rest of the film. Still it is an above average thriller.

Kimble: "I didn't kill my wife!"
Gerard: "I don't care."

When Kimble (Ford) gets the jump on Gerard (Lee Jones) in the sewers, instead of shooting the marshal and making things worse, Kimble pleads his case to him. Gerard, responds with a simple, but brilliant and ad-libbed, "I don't care."

The line wasn't part of the script but those three words reinforced to Kimble, and audiences, that it didn't matter to Gerard whether the doctor was guilty or innocent of the crimes for which he was accused. He was going to get his man - no matter what.

_The Fugitive_ is a classic 90's film that has stood the test of time. Harrison Ford delivers an outstanding performance as Dr. Richard Kimble, a man on the run after being wrongfully accused of his wife's murder. His portrayal of a desperate man fighting to clear his name is both convincing and agonizing. Equally impressive is Tommy Lee Jones, who plays the determined U.S. Marshal tasked with bringing Kimble to justice. Jones' sharp wit and relentless pursuit of his target make for an unforgettable character. Together, Ford and Jones make _The Fugitive_ a good watch for anyone who appreciates top-notch acting and a gripping story.

It’s alright, kind of a typical thriller that relies too much on cheese and convenience for my taste. Tommy Lee Jones steals the movie, Ford’s character is pretty dull and only gets marginally more interesting in the second half. The story is just fine, it’s more of a vehicle to keep up the tension, which is fine but there’s nothing memorable about it. Even the twists left me pretty indifferent. The edit keeps a good pace, however the filmmaking is pretty lackluster overall. The cinematography (aside from a few great Chicago establishing shots) is bland, and some of the bombastic sound effects/score choices feel cheap or overblown. It’s a decent film for what it is, but I have no idea why the Academy pretended to have found their new Hitchcock.

5.5/10

>-*"I didn't kill my wife!"*
-*"I don't care."*

Using dogs to track down the fugitive would have avoided this whole movie but we wouldn't have had such a classic. ***The Fugitive*** feels like a real, typical, "they don't make em' like that anymore" kind of action movie. Every dad knows this one.

Harrison Ford is good as the protagonist with an engaging mystery to solve of why was he framed and by who? However, Tommy Lee Jones is the one that steals the spotlight as the badass detective trying to catch him. I wish they had more scenes together.

It has some thrilling chase sequences supported by memorable action set pieces. What it's ultimately lacking is more of them, more action... the middle part is a bit of a drag to get through. It scraps some action to focus more on the mystery. It's a great mystery but I expected a better twist/conclusion to it. Enjoyed the third act and ending nevertheless.

A good action movie overall but it's overhyped.

I don't get all the Academy Awards nominations it received. It's a good movie but there's nothing outstanding from every other 90s thriller, except for the main actors. The resolution to the murder case is confusing and unsatisfying.

****Great Action Thriller starring Harrison Ford****
The Fugitive is a complex thriller with every detail playing a significant role in the outcome of the movie. It's the story of a conspiracy surrounding Dr. Richard Kimble, a surgeon who is on the run while U.S Marshal Samuel Gerard tries to find an explanation of why Kimble was framed for the murder of his wife. The movie has a sticking nature to it, every detail in the actors face will prove that Harrison Ford and Tommy Lee Jones deserve every praise they have received for their performance.
Spectacularly done in the tradition of crime/drama thrillers with Ford and Jones working better together than ever before. I found this film to be the best film experience of the early 90's, and hopefully you will too.
My Score: 8/10.

First time seeing this and I'm 25 years late to the party. This is a solid 90s action thriller that holds up decently well. The train wreck is great and most of the other action is good. The real driving force of the movie is Harrison Ford and Tommy Lee Jones. Both give amazing performances. The "I don't care" line was fantastic. It is a little too long and the third act isn't the best. Still this is a lot of fun.
