Pleasantly surprised. Reminded me of something Hitchcock, the way it gradually builds up suspense to tell an engaging story.

Transparent and predictable. McGregor, Brosnan, and Williams deliver fine performances, but I have no idea what Kim Cattrall was doing here. No one, however, can overcome the problem script.

A modern update of a classic Hitchcock type film. It’s very meticulously edited and directed, and I like how every character is ever so slightly offbeat, it makes the film that much more mysterious. There’s a great sense of place and atmosphere, which is often heightened by the score. In fact, I think it’d make a great double feature with _Shutter Island_ just based on the vibe alone. The mystery is intriguing and tense, but also predictable and obvious at times. Moreover, it gets increasingly schlockier and far fetched as it goes along, so much so that it was asking me to take leaps I didn’t want to take as a viewer. Some of the pay-offs are very silly and unsatisfying. It’s also generally just too conventional of a story, it’d probably be more memorable if it had a stronger subtext, because as it stands it’s nothing more than a mediocre crowdpleaser.

Good acting and tone, but the mystery was just not so much interesting.

Pretty good for a mystery, but I admit I got a little bored with it halfway through. The ending made it worthwhile though.

No bad, not spectacular either. Reasonable time waster.

Very intense thriller that was good but really heavy.... you need to be in the mood for this one.

WTF did I just watch? How did this sad excuse of a thriller get such good actors on board?

The script was terrible.Very slow and very boring. Characters would adamantly refuse to do something, only to change their mind in their next breath with barely any prompting. And don't get me started on those spontaneous crying bouts. What even was that?

To make it all the worse, the score was completely out of place. Whoever composed the music for this was very clearly watching a totally different movie. Not only did it feel like the score was composed by three different people, or someone with multiple personality disorder perhaps, but at times I couldn't tell if I was watching a 90's superhero movie or a Tim Burton inspired weird christmas movie. That's how incongruous to this story the music was.

I love Ewan McGregor but this is a garbage movie.

Putting aside my feelings of Roman Polanski for a moment, if I am being honest with myself I have to say that I really enjoyed this film. The dialogue and story were fantastic and the acting was excellent. I thought that the ending was a little weak - I really expected the type of ending that happened in The Firm. I guess the book ended that way but for some reason Polanski went a different way. The notable exception to all of this was the casting of Kim Cattrall. In some scenes she didn't even attempt an English accents but in other scenes she seemed to be doing a parody accent. Thirty years later she's still getting run because of Porkys - that's amazing.

I Found this movie to be really really boring and I was fighting to keep watching it. Personel it was not my kind of movie, and I didn't really like it that much.

Not much action happens, but it's still very interesting. Quite enjoyed this mistery thriller.

Don't let the summary scare you off - one of the best thrillers I've seen in a long time!
