An adaptation written by Harold Pinter that reflects social classes through an illicit and forbidden love. But by adopting the perspective of a child who serves as a messenger, at the same time that he begins to discover the tremors of desire, it uses innocence to make the romantic love relationship even more outlawed. Leo's own stay in the surroundings of an aristocratic family provides an outside look at the false elegance of the carefree gatherings of its members. Although he has a very characteristic tone of his time, he never loses the reflection of the charm and restlessness of youth.

I'm glad I watched it, but these dragged out slow burn period movies are really not for me. I'll just take my leave and rewatch A Room With a View instead.

Leo’s enduring bachelorhood is just the icing on the cake.
