I’ve seen a few Golf films in my time, to bagger vance, caddyshank and happy gilmore and many more and it was a decent golf film with a few hole in ones. I loved the effects, some decent golf action and good performance from Shia Labeouf that’s definitely come a talented actor also thought the ending was heart warming.

Stephen Dillane & Stephen Marcus look like they could play a Laurel & Hardly act ha

Superb! One of Disney's best live-action offerings up until 2005.

It's yet another sports drama from the studio, one of many still to come too, but it's a cut above their previous live-actions releases in this subgenre; even beating 2002's 'The Rookie', which I like tremendously.

I love every detail of 'The Greatest Game Ever Played', which is about a true story. The score is splendid, the cinematography is excellent and the premise is riveting - even to someone like me who isn't a follower of golf. There are a few scenes that use effects, namely with Vardon, which look neat.

Vardon is portrayed by Stephen Dillane, who is terrific in the role. Stephen Marcus plays Ted Ray, he's another top performer as is Josh Flitter (Eddie) - the latter brings some amusing humour to events.

The film's star, however, is Shia LaBeouf. He does a grand job as Ouimet, he produces the goods in all of his scenes. I'm already a fan of LaBeouf's, so I'm glad I can add another one of his characters to my memory.

This did not feel like a 120 minute production. Great pacing, great film. Highly recommended!

If you are a big time golfer or fan of the game this is a great tear jerker; and done by the best, Disney. Perfectly captured one of the greatest true goof stories of all time while also catching the emphasis that Golf might just be the greatest game of all time. The plot moved at a perfect pace from the beginnings of golf and how a poor boy rose to the top to the humble beginnings of a caddy with as dream who's family didn't fully support it to bringing the two together to capture one of the greatest golf stories.

Disney sport films are a special breed. This is one of the “weaker” ones and it’s still rock solid. I really enjoyed my time rewatching the movie, and it I’m surprised they were able to make an old timey golf movie be up-lifting. While it’s not my favorite, I would certainly recommend this movie to many.

Rating: 3.5/5 - 8/10 - Would Recommend

This movie was surpisingly well done. It falls in line with the list of Disney "based on true stories" like _The Rookie_, _Miracle_, and _Remember the Titans_. The story in this movie is not as strong as those others, but Shia LaBeouf does such an excellent portrayal of Francis Ouimet that you hardly notice. You can't help but identify with the rags to not really riches story and his trustee caddie sidekick Eddie. The golf scenes were well shot and believable. Shia's swing was pure enough to pull this off. If you want to spend 2 hours of feel good, non-swearing, no nudity, pure entertainment then this movie is for you.
