A western with a difference, with great actors on the weight of fame.

Gregory Peck's character made himself a plate of trouble in this film by obsessing over his former lover, then when he satisfied that need, he just had to stick around and see his kid. I would not say he was an anti-hero - but he could have made better choices at the time. It is not exactly a "Spaghetti Western" since it was made in Hollywood, but I have added it to my SW list anyway. It has so many elements that could have qualified it, if it were made in Europe: Revenge, Gunfighters, an anti-hero named Ringo. I consider it a Spaghetti Western Prototype. A moustachioed Gregory Peck is the renowned, but now reformed, gunslinger "Ringo" who rides into his hometown hoping to meet up with his old flame "Peggy" (Helen Westcott) and his young son - whom he has yet to actually meet! The locals are less than enthusiastic at his arrival - especially the prud More
