this movie is amazing. the cast works so well together and it actually feels real. the other netflix romcoms could never.

paul is so cute. he's a great friend and his relationship with ellie was so fun to watch as it developed. the scene with paul and ellie's dad where the dad's speaking chinese to him was wonderful too. i don't know why it hit me but it did.

the scene where they're in the water was beautiful. this movie is gonna get quoted for years to come, i'm calling it

even though i did ship astra and ellie, the ending was satisfying and actually really cute.

thanks netflix for giving us a cute lesbian (kinda) movie. please continue to make movies like these instead of movies like the kissing booth. sorry not sorry

At the end of it all, this is a really sweet film. It became more than a rom com and showed us all the forms of love. And that's damn beautiful.

I've seen some super mixed reviews on this and that kinda bums me out. I loved this movie and I've been thinking about it all day. Leah Lewis does a great job playing Ellie and I really liked her character. I do feel like this shouldn't really be labeled as romance, it's much more about friendship and acceptance.

Tuned in because it was baited by the lesbian storyline. But then stayed for the nice friendship story. It's so cute and sweet.

Its like an instant classic. The type whose quotes will be used in Instagram posts even 10-15 years later.

Love has many shades. This film explores this theme, quite beautifully. At the beginning of this movie, the narrator boldly states, “…this is not a love story or not one where anyone gets what they want”. I attest that they found love in ways they never anticipated. I fell in love with all three characters that were so wonderfully played by the lead actors. No matter how old we get, I hope we never stop exploring the many shades of love. I love this movie and this is the second time I’ve watched it and I probably will revisit it again. I give this film an 8 (great) out of 10. [Young Adult Love Story]

Its no classic in the genre but decent enough. It is overlong tho - just half of it would have been enough.

That was like... really good, i really didn't expect it to be since it's a Netflix original and is kinda gay, but that was quite good, it's an alright story line but what makes it good is the way it was executed, all the thoughts and all, it was quite raw yet not harsh or too much, pretty good overall. It wasn't like wow but it wasn't meh either,it was good, a lite nice movie.

It was nice to remember these little moments and emotions I felt long ago. Such a beautiful story about friendship and acceptance.

I found the movie looking for a rom com, but find much more. The writing, the thoughts, the hardship and improvement of the main characters. It's bold alright, that's true.

It felt like the meat of the movie was just...omitted?
I had a hard time believing in either of them feeling real love for Aster and I DEFINITELY had a hard time rooting for Ellie and Paul's friendship.

The (VERY FEW) sapphic scenes we got were nice but every scene with Paul in it was so cringy and annoying and
it felt like the entire movie was just small snippets of a tv show put together. The themes were being thrown at you by the narration so many times because they knew the actual movie didn't express any of them properly. Boring, undercooked, and not something I'll remember even next week.

(my journey for good sapphic teen media continues)
