This was good, but I'm not a big western fan. Um they did my man so dirty. You will definitely know what part I'm talking about.

NGL There are some times that remind me of Tarantino.

Dunno where to start... Too much of everything that tries to be meaningfull, deep and extraordinary but failing hard on it. A mixture of trying a good new western storyline while throwing everything onto the screen no matter if it fits or supports the story.

What planet are you on? It was obviously one of the old style westerns like the old Lone Ranger movies. But you must watch enough westerns to know, right? You might want to put that inner racist back in the box

[Netflix] The director clearly shows his influences, mixing the spaghetti western with the visual effervescence of Tarantino (another Leone disciple), but he can't find his own way. There are some successful humorous winks (the white town), but the script is bland and conservative (it is surprising that the actresses are willing to get involved in characters so submissive to their "machos").

Different if you are not a fan of westerns. It has every cliché in the genre (the story is a rip off of Once Upon a Time in the West with the style of Django Unchained)
Pure style and little substance (I shouted "fk off" at the stretching of the image at the end).

@the_argentinian The streching was weird, the style is fun and the movie is good

@the_argentinian I honestly loved that little flourish. Having never seen original westerns in the cinema, that flip to wide/cinemascope(/or whatever it actually is) that just looks like stretched is what many of us grew up experiencing from these classic genre films. The film plays with the whole toolbox and then some.

I don’t get the low ratings on this. The action was great, the cinematography was excellent and the sprinkling in of modern dialogue made this enjoyable. The soundtrack was the icing on the cake.

This was like Tombstone combined with Hateful 8 and an old west gang movie.

It opens with “the events are fictional but these people existed” so if you’re not bothered by historical accuracy (and that opening moniker is a reeeeeallly good clue) you might love it.

I had Tarantino vibes all through the movie, but it fall short on that, it was much more boring. The story was cliché, nothing new, and characters were flat - plus I hated the music, but that's just my preference.

It's a western. Cowboy movies are always cliche. Geesh.

What a waste. This should not be classified as a western. Nice try but it was just bad.

A unique, perfectly paced, genre-bending Western-action, with a satisfying story, impeccable direction and great performances.

Now that was a decent shoot out with a top cast that all did well with their roles, been awhile since i've seen that level of a western.

Not sure why this movie wasn't in the comedy genre, because a lot of things were funny. Everyone is wearing new clothes, buildings have new paint, guns are gold and shiny, the soundtrack is all over the place with rap and reggae.... this isn't a true western.

The story and characters aren't the most complex, but there is enough dimension, and the actors do a good job to pull at your heart strings a bit.

I think the set and symbolism are particularly delightful. The juxtapositions of the two factions, as well as the towns (Maysville and Redwood) are beautifully visualised in style, colour and some iconographic symbolism.

Is it perfect? No, it's a little on the nose in places. Still, 'The Harder They Fall' is a beautiful movie worth the time, from plot to sound, to cinematography, to costume, to set design. It's Mise-en-scène cohesion that seems to be a rarity these days.

Not sure what people liked about this show. I thought it was obvious and uninspired.

Lots of quality actors, but no real plot and the sets and equipment looks perfectly neat and clean like they were built yesterday (weird choice for a western).

Also, the dialog was entirely inappropriate for the time period, who writes this stuff.

I enjoyed this tremendously! I do t think I heard the ‘n’ word a single time in the whole movie. Maybe in a soundtrack, but not from the actors. Well done!

@malikheru oh they said it. When the speedy one, Jim, and his partner first showed up, and they were picking on each other. I don't remember who said it, but that was one time that word was mentioned.
