Body horror. If it’s not for you that’s fine but don’t knock it if you don’t understand it.

Oh boy, where do I begin!
So,
two girls are taken by a creepy guy and torments them or whatever he wants to call it. This type of plot is just so repetitive in so many other films. Then the ones taken try to escape or fight back. So as for the storyline, it gets no credit, the only exception is that this one adds some sick actions and pretty disturbing and/or disgusting stuff. No credit to the production crew. No credit to the actors as well. Nothing about this movie is actually good.
That's just my opinion.

Requires a tad bit of suspension of belief since there are small moments that make you wonder how or just why tf? Particularly how convenient it is that two naive gentically-related enough girls get lost and stranded right where he lived (it had to rain too? lmao), how he got them up and down stairs each time, why a policeman would agree to a drink from a suspect in their home and how one has the balls enough to bite a chunk out of a neck but not finish off the job of scalpel stabbing.

Yeah this is disgusting and disturbing but it's what I understand is the goal of horror genre. Though I understand on release, the main concern was the possibility of shock value with no substance becoming a cheap exploit in cinema. Fair enough.

The gore on second watch isn't even that bad- a lot of it isn't even shown and I've seen _much_ worse elsewhere. It's more intense and anxiety driven and the only real stomach turning part was that stair climbing group attempt at escaping.

All I know is that my knees hurt after watching this.

im not gonna lie it didn't have much of a plot. or maybe it did bc the version i watched didn't have subtitles for the non-english bits. i dunno like assuming im right about thinking i didn't need subtitles anyway, like it's really almost incomplete. the vague concept is scary but it really needed more than that.

This was available via Netflix Streaming and it was Halloween so I thought, "Why not?" I should have kept looking.

I mean, it's terrible and not in that so bad it'll make a good cult classic way terrible.

Did the people who made this film, writers, producers, art directors etc, fail each and every one of their science classes? The concepts in this film are ridiculous. While I don't expect folks to go to medical school, I do expect them to have a basic understanding of how the major systems of the body work. I expect them to know what is and what is not possible and to carry that over so that a doctor in a film would have a working knowledge when preparing for and performing surgery.

In other words, you can't sew people together end to end and "pretend" like stuff just "passes" through. It doesn't. How on earth do you think people get E. Coli and Staph infections? Especially with the open/healing surgical wounds?

And there is really only one scary part. What is it? Listening to the lecture before the operation in which "the doctor" describes what he is going to do and realizing that the guy is serious. Furthermore, realizing that the writers want us to believe this guy probably graduated from a medical shool somewhere. Frightening.

I'd rather eat shit then watch this again. You get the distinct feeling that whoever recommends it to you was having a good laugh and wanted you too to be unable to deny having watched it. Everything is surprisingly fine here save for the story and Dr. Heiter's acting.
