A very pleasant surprise, indeed. Didn't expect to enjoy it as much as I did. The actress who played Tara was really good and talented. She's definitely going places. And that ending was *chefs kiss*.

Rife with amateur production values but punctuated with (very) brief moments of quality, The Inhabitant is unfortunately a missed opportunity that ultimately feels like it could have been much better than the final product we got. It's somehow very simplistic while being vague, unfocused and hard to follow due to how scenes are constructed and edited together. The "graduate film student project" vibes are strong with this one, which is a shame because the themes of hereditary mental health and familial trauma are solid foundations to build a contemporary horror on; this one just sets out the pieces and doesn't build on them to any satisfying conclusion. Skip this one.
