I made it about 30 minutes in realising that there was another hour left (and I felt like I already heard all I needed to). You probably only want to watch it if you are truely interested in hearing about some viral alternate reality game (or LARPing for hipsters) that took place in SF created by Jeff Hull else just go and read a news story about it. There is only so much of value you could say and show about it. Doesn't help that it comes off so fabricated (this movie is just another part of the advertisement).

Documentary that inspired the tv show "Dispatches from Elsewhere" (AMC, 2020), and that reflects on the relation between art, science, spirituality and games. An imagined adventure that the director uses to dissolve the boundaries between reality and fantasy. But the fact of having actively participated in the project reduces his objectivity, and he tries to maintain a certain mystery that prevents a greater depth.

The documentary that inspired DISPATCHES FROM ELSEWHERE, is a bit of a trip itself where the lines of reality and fantasy blurred for the participants of an alternative reality game. I give this documentary a 7 (thought provoking) out of 10.
