Meryl was great, but I felt the film avoided going into any depth around the controversial decisions during her time as PM; could have been so much better.

The first thing to note is this is not a 'true biopic' of Lady Thatcher. Rather it sits around her post Prime Ministerial and Commons career. Dealing frankly with old age and dementia. Her rise and subsequent role as Prime Minister is shown as a series of flashbacks. While these are the meat of the film they are hung around her hallucinated interactions with her deceased husband. Meryl Streep is as always wonderful, ably supported by Jim Broadbent. I felt that the rest of the supporting cast of the cabinet and various members of the house similarly added a level of depth often overlooked in films which focus on such a strong character as Margaret Thatcher. While Lady Thatcher did and undoubtedly still does polarise opinion. There is no doubt she is one of the few Members of Parliament to make a real and lasting mark upon the country and the political world as a whole. The film also does rather gloss over and never show any of the many (although still a small percentage) of female members of the house at her time as a Member of Parliament.

Meryl Streep shines, as always, and the rest of the cast delivers excellent performances. While the movie succeeds as a drama, its portrayal of one of the most powerful women in history, "The Iron Lady," falls short as a biopic. Presenting her at her weakest, old and ill, does not fully capture her decisive character. Additionally, the film lacks sufficient attention to key points of her tenure. However, overall, I enjoyed it.

Very beautiful character driven film about Margaret Thatcher. Meryl Streeps performance is remarkable and just magnificent. But I thought that they missed out on showing Thatcher's life as Prime Minister in more detail which would have been very interesting to me. Instead they showed her in her later years as an old lady suffering from dementia, which was also very well done indeed.

Told by way of a retrospective, Meryl Streep is the elderly Baroness Thatcher who is struggling to get over the death of her husband Sir Denis (Jim Broadbent) and dealing with the onset of dementia that is distressing her daughter Carol (Olivia Colman) and is causing her to forget yesterday but vivi More
