With an impeccable mix of live action, CGI and a stampede of adventure, "The Jungle Book" proves Disney is once again king of the jungle.

This was the perfect adaptation for The Jungle Book! The voice actors were absolutely stellar and brought so much credibility to the CGI-characters. The VFX itself is a contender (and I hope the winner) at the Oscars 2017. The scenarios were tear-dropping to the eyes (in the good way) and the animals were portrayed with so much detail that makes you wanna live with panthers, bears and wolves!
Overall, I consider this another success from Disney that rebooted this so well!

I agree. But I bought into it a little more in the second viewing. They did make King Louie a little too big though.

@jim222001 King Louie ain't in the book, so they decided for an extinct species instead of an orangutan (as opposed to the cartoon) because there isn't orangutans in India :D

But still... I agree on him being too big lol

Really, really worth the watch! The visual effects/cinematography were absolutely gorgeous and the animals were all so believeable. Some of the voice actors were perhaps an odd choice but the movie was still gorgeous and really emotional! Not sure how some have rated this movie so low, it was a joy to watch and little Neel Sethi did a brilliant job considering he was acting by himself for the whole film.

@swanqueenz I just watched this today as it was on tv. It’s been over 20 years since I watched the animated version, so can’t really compare the two, but I did really like this one, and like you say, Neel Sethi was brilliant, especially given that this was his break-out roll.

I thought this movie was GREAT! It is an enjoyable updating of the Disney animated movie, with plenty of homages included. Voice talent was top-notch and Idris Elba as Shere Khan the tiger was threatening and menacing and well-done. Bill Murray is a spot-on Baloo and Neel Sethi does a great job as Mowgli (especially considering the kid is acting with CG animals the whole time). I liked what Jon Favreau did with the story. It even brought tears to my eyes a couple of times.

The movie itself is great. The CGI is absolutely incredible. As usual, superb quality from Disney.

I think Jon Favreau is an absolute genius but my god is this movie boring. Also the acting of the kid is poor and I can't seem to get out of the uncanny valley with this one.

Soulless, corporate regurgitate of the original animated film. The casting seemed off, as if the suits decided to look at a list of popular actors and actresses at the time and slap them in the movie (and I love all those who participated in the movie... just not like this). The pacing was just okay. Not a fan of realistic looking talking animals, it just... Feels very goofy. All the musical numbers were done in such a way as to seem casual and playful, but at the cost of them actually being enjoyable songs. The CGI actually looked decent for the most part. Just altogether a disappointing movie.

And to be really nitpicky, the Himalayan Brown Bear does in fact go into hibernation. I'm sure it's fine for the kids, however.

Better than the original. Jon Favreau respected the original but also added a few interesting things to keep the movie fresh and not just another remake.

Loved this version of Shere Khan, that actually does something in the movie (unlike the 1967's version). I also liked the fact that Favreau give more attention to Mowgli's family (the wolves).

The voice casting for this movie was top-notch. Since Idris Elba (my personal favourite), the always amazing Bill Murray, Sir Ben Kingsley, Christopher Walken, etc.

The kid, Neel Sethi, was also amazing (for what he had to do) in his first movie.

Jon Favreau, if "The Lion King" is going to be like this i'm going to be very satisfied.

One of the most breathtaking films ever made. The animated animals look crazy realistic which helps you believe in the film. A fabulous retelling of the original Disney animation.
