After watching it I understand why Ben Johnson initially turned the role down. He said it was dirty and full of cuss words. Peter Bogdanovich made the first 3/4 of the movie feel creepy with horrible up close shots and awkward sexual moments with young people. His inner pervert distracts and almost ruins the movie. Like with the abduction scene we didn’t need that. I only watched it to see Ben Johnson’s performance and was amazed how many of the actors I knew and I really did like the the last 20 minutes or so. Not a great movie just something that you watch to see the people you grew up watching get their start.

Jeff Bridges is great but I didn't really care for this. It's fine but I feel like it has been done better.

I must have watched this movie a few years after it came out, but I had no specific memory of it, no feeling of deja vu of having seen a scene before. It is a good film in many ways, certainly achieving its apparent goal of portraying a bleak landscape of a dying town.

The dialogue, which I notic More
