In a bizarre Breton library that collects rejected, never published manuscripts, a young editor discovers a novel that she considers a masterpiece. It was written by a certain Henri Pick, a cook who died two years earlier and who, according to his widow, had never read a book in his life or written anything but a shopping list... The comedy works. The mystery staggers in a second part that is saved by some good moments of humor. Great Fabrice Luchini in his composition of an impertinent literary critic. Some ironic darts hit the target.

This is a mystery with an engaging first chapter followed by a lot of blank pages where there is no story and then an ending that is cut out altogether.

For a film about the harsh realities of the publishing industry and a man ruining his life over (possibly) a great literary fraud, 'The Mystery of Henri Pick' is a surprisingly pleasant, sophisticated and light-hearted crowd-pleaser.
