A good action Korean movie with a lot of brutal moments in it. I don't think it is as good as the second one personally, maybe because of the story, but I still enjoyed watching this one.

This is the third or fourth one i watch from Ma Dong-Seok and korean cinema in general. Is not a bad movie, but maybe so many years of Hollywood action makes this movies too plain for me. I was hoping to watch the whole Roundup saga, but I think i will pass for now. Until now, all of what I watched, even that they have their violent moments, usually are off-screen. The few that are on screen are mere fist fights (with the eventual pipe or knife) and the endings don't pack the same punch as what I'm used to. Usually they don't use guns (I guess it's a common trait in films from this part of the world) and the plots, even that they have their differences, from an external point of view seem all the same. Also, the characters that Ma Dong-Seok do, usually are the same: he hit you one time with those hams and you are watching cartoon birds on the floor. Big arms, slaps and punches and that's it. Again, it may be the Hollywood effect, but I'm being honest

Don Lee is just amazing, he's the perfect amount of chaotic neutral cop energy in this one, and it seriously makes me wanna watch more of his work

barely 18 minutes into the movie and he's already hit not one, not two, but **three** whole world class slaps, it's just hilarious

i love the way he treats all the gang bosses like they're nothing, it was so funny, and how everyone just straight up fears him & respects him

there were some key moments in this movie, where the slow horizontal camera movement conveyed such an intense feeling, alongside the audio design here and there, loved it

also there's just something about korean mafia / gangster movies where they nail it so well, especially with the main villain in this one

Brutal, Action Packed, Stylish

The Outlaws is a confident, stylish south korean turf war episode based on true incidents brought to life. It features plenty of stylish blood-letting and unchecked machismo as it trains its focus on Chinese-Korean immigrants and a ruthless fight for power. The film offers great fight choreography and engaging gangster drama which easily serves as a near perfect crime drama.

Don Lee is exceptional as always and is extremely likeable as the cop busting out gangsters one by one. Yoon Kye-sang is amazing as the antagonist, he instils true fear in the viewers mind with his magnificent performance.

Overall, The Outlaws is a fantastic crime thriller which has great action sequences, brutal gangster drama and a fast screenplay. Don Lee is a legend and we should never get in his way.
