Julio and Ana have been together for more than fifteen years. They have become a couple who no longer look at nor touch one another, and who have made daily fighting the essence of their relationship. This evening, Ana has invited their upstairs neighbors to come round, Salva and Laura, a couple younger than them, pleasant and friendly, but whose noises are now an annoyance for Julio and Ana... or perhaps a stimulus? The upstairs neighbors will make them an unusual and surprising proposal which will turn the evening into an exaggerated and cathartic experience for all four.

You'll see that it's definitely a movie based on a play: 4 characters in a single space (an apartment) and a lot of verbal exchanges. And that's my only qualm, I believe that a film gives you much more to play with, meaning that's free of all the limitations of a play with a live audience. I haven't seen the play, so I can't compare which one is better. That aside, I think it's a clever story with lots of things that may resonate with many couples, whether gay or straight. What I do appreciate is the level of maturity in which the topics were handled. The comedic moments do stand out, and the actors' performances are a delight.

The adaptation of the Cesc Gay's play is transformed into a cinematographic product, thanks to a measured direction in terms of the use of spaces. Four actors and actresses in an apartment talk about the relationship, the swinger, the disinhibition... The balance between drama and comedy works better in other Cesc Gay's films such as "Truman", but this is a film that invites to reflect from a smile.
