Gabby, the waitress in an isolated Arizona diner, dreams of a bigger and better life. One day penniless intellectual Alan drifts into the joint and the two strike up a rapport. Soon enough, notorious killer Duke Mantee takes the diner's inhabitants hostage. Surrounded by miles of desert, the patrons and staff are forced to sit tight with Mantee and his gang overnight.

Good classic movie with Humphrey Bogart as a wanted world famous killer. To be honest I did not find him scary but I loved the part he was playing. A hostage situation ensues in a small diner where Bette Davis works only to fall in love with a patron who is willing to lose his life to better hers. A great simple film that you should watch.

Nice movie. Davis and Howard’s chemistry is incredible. Bogart is great. You can see why he became a star.

picture 3.5 / 5 and sound 3/5. Good gangster movie with an incipient Humphrey Bogart and a young Bete Davis
