Deep in the heart of Jakarta's slums lies an impenetrable safe house for the world's most dangerous killers and gangsters. Until now, the run-down apartment block has been considered untouchable to even the bravest of police. Cloaked under the cover of pre-dawn darkness and silence, an elite swat team is tasked with raiding the safe house in order to take down the notorious drug lord that runs it. But when a chance encounter with a spotter blows their cover and news of their assault reaches the drug lord, the building's lights are cut and all the exits blocked. Stranded on the sixth floor with no way out, the unit must fight their way through the city's worst to survive their mission. Starring Indonesian martial arts sensation Iko Uwais.

Simple plot, brutal action sequences, stylised choreographed fights. What more could you want ? The initial part of the film is tense and exciting and the action sequences are all beautifully choreographed and edited. That being said, the film does being to suffer a little in the final part as fatigue over the relentless action begins to set in. The director seems to realise this as the film is quite short but including some twists into a plot which was barely there in the first place seems superfluous and a little forced. Still entertaining though, but lets hope the sequel just doesn't repeat the formula.

If you seen Donnie Yen films, then you will definately like this. The Raid is an Indonesian film with no name international actors in it, but this guys can fight. From gun action to hard hitting hardcore martial arts, this film has a lot of action to take your attention away from the very simple storyline. There is no acting here, but the action is enough to really grab your attention. Definately recommended for martial arts and action fans..

30 floors of absolute hell and pure martial arts, nothing else. I loved it, and creative fighting scenes

Safe to say I wasn't raid-y for that (that was a horrible pun)

The action of this movie was phenomenal, it was as if they were trying to tell me a story by punching me. During the whole runtime , I was on the edge of my seat and my god I don't think I've ever been excite More

Oh, good, the plot, the dialogues and the performances of the characters are plainly terrible.

Other than that, if you are looking for an action movie with tons of "dancing" fights, this is your movie.

Despite being an early entry, _The Raid_ is arguably the most revolutionary action movie of the past decade. And the decade is almost over. Iko Uwais is clear talent when it comes to this sort of stunt work, and with the exception of a little too much shakey-cam near the start, you get a really look More
