The suspense and anxiety felt real and reminded of me when I am in the water. You think you see something, then the panic starts to set in and I feel like The Reef hit this on the nail.

However, the shark attack(s) seemed a little odd given that
sharks usually tend to 'test' the food first, nudging and seeing how it reacts before taking an intial taste test. Opposed to just taking one big gobble of the human and thats it.
For the suspense and over casting and quality I thought it was okay (5/10) however, with the above noted it ruined the realism for me. so I've knocked it down a few pegs.
3/10.

Great movie. Not too 'scary' (and I get scared easily), was more emotional for me. Actors were amazing. The true event this was based on is white incredible too though slightly different obviously.

Low tense movie, it didn't built up agony for me. I prefer "Open Water" instead.

Catching up before it's leaving Shudder. Shark attack is probably my least favorite horror subgenre so going into this, I don't really expect much. As far as shark films go, this one offers nothing special. The suspense is there, getting stranded in the middle of ocean and stalked by a giant shark are naturally scary. There's also an actual footage of shark attack which I really appreciate but the writing isn’t good enough to reel me into the story. For the most parts, it's just people floating in the open water with their uninteresting drama. Unfortunately, the acting is nothing impressive. I couldn’t really connect to any characters except the guy who stays on the boat. It also takes too long to get to the juicy parts. You won't see any shark until 50 minute mark. When it reaches that point, it gets stale and repetitive really quick.
