Say what you will about the first Saint movie, it has suspense and kept you guessing the whole time. The Saint was invisible, was a mystery and was always one step ahead. This new Saint however, was a glorified 007 type figure. No mystery, bland disguises, everyone knew who he was, and the whole movie was boringly predictable. Too bad, this could have been great, but wasn't even good.

@mbody please tell me your not referring to the Val Kilmer The Saint 1997 as the first movie. The Saint in New York 1938 I the first film appearance of The Saint.

I'm not going to be too harsh judging this movie because this wasn't supposed to be a movie.

This was originally produced as the pilot episode for a Saint reboot series in December 2012. Roger Moore (the original Saint from the 60s) was to be the producer of the new series and Adam Rayner was to star as Simon Templar with Eliza Dushku as his girlfriend Patricia Holm. The reboot series never saw the light of day. The pilot was redone to become this movie.

IMO none of the attempted reboots since the original Roger Moore series have stayed true to the original Simon Templar character. I don't know why they diverted from Leslie Charteris' original character arc and themes. That was a mistake. I'm watching the original series (it's in Black & White for the first 4 seasons) and it's very good and has its own brand.

The 2 saints of the series come out, Ian Ogilvy, Roger Moore. Always a pleasure Eliza Dushku. Just action to hang out.

Mediocre to bad acting, extremely bad sound effects/action scenes (sorry I didn’t know I was in a 70s asian B-C movie hahah). Story not terrible so far though and a little funny, although kind of boring. I can see there’s been _some_ investment, but not very convincing.
By watching the first 10 minutes I was Not even sure whether real movie or elaborate porn.

Then i read it’s actually a remake of the only other The Saint Movie I know, and that I remember captivated me, enticed me and if I’m not mistaken, I was invested and felt for the characters. This however lacks all of that. I’d rather see Kilmer on Netflix

Ugh.... this could have been so much better.... like so much better. Even the actors were casted right... (with the exception of the FBI agent who was a bit of an idiot) and even a cameo from the original saint. Sigh... at least we still have Val Kilmer The Saint. The original one is too old for me to enjoy.
Hopefully someone will get the reboot right tho...

I can see why it didn't make it to a full series. Not awful, just cheesy and a little dated.
