Solid followup to the superior original, buoyed again by Tim Allen's wisecracking Scott Calvin character. Diminshed when compared to the first, but if watched alone, satisfying enough. Plastic/Toy Santa was a tad annoying and pointless, but some good laughs and cheerful enough. BTW, did you know little Lucy is actor Bill Mumy's daughter? Now you do.

Scott Calvin/Santa Claus: "I have to get married?"

Bernard: "Yes. It's the Mrs. Clause."

The darkest chapter in the Santa Clause universe!

I think it's good.

To me, 'The Santa Clause 2' runs the original film very close. I found the plot to this one more consistently enjoyable, whereas the first one starts off stronger than it finishes - I'd still class the 1994 production better, but this is a solid sequel in my opinion.

Tim Allen reprises his role as Scott and continues to be showpiece of the film. Elizabeth Mitchell is decent as Carol, while Spencer Breslin - who is good in 'The Cat in the Hat', and yes I like that film - fits his character well. My point being, this has a slightly improved support cast.

Going back to the premise itself, it's nothing to take seriously of course but I felt suitably entertained by it. Intrigued to see where the second sequel goes.

The Santa Clause 2 almost rounds the corner of “it’s so bad it's good,” but doesn’t quite make it. When Scott Calvin starts to lose his Santa magic he discovers that there’s a Mrs. Clause within the Santa Clause that requires him to get married. Of all the bad ideas of where to take The Santa Clause story, the Mrs. Clause is spectacularly awful. If only the bad ideas ended there though...but they don’t, they keep coming and coming (life-seize toy Santa, I’m looking at you). The special effects are pathetic at best, and the set designs aren’t much better. It’s sad to see a sequel go so wrong, but there it is. The film is so over-the-top at times that it’s hard not to laugh at it, yet The Santa Clause 2 is not enjoyable enough to make the out-of-control ridiculousness work for it.

Pretty forgetful movie. Nowhere near as good as the first. The toy Santa is weird and annoying. Aisha Tyler as Mother Nature is great. Molly Shannon's cameo is fantastic, by far the best thing in this.

I have watched this film far too many times to count, and being one of my wife's favorites I will watch it many more. I prefer the original to this one, but this one is still waaaaay better than the third or show.

Rating: 3.5/5 - 8/10 - Would Recommend
