You know that feeling when you see a new movie and you feel you have seen everything before?!?

Well...The Secret Life of Pets gives me that feeling in spades. It's not that it looks or sounds bad, it's not that characters aren't funny, but everything feels so damn uninspired...

The voices are the worst offender. Everything sounds the same, and you get the feeling the voice actors were very bored when doing this movie.

The animation gets a pass as it's not bad, but there's a whole lot of movies out there at the moment that does things better.

The story isn't all that good, but at least it wasn't all that boring. I actually laughed out loud at a couple of gags. The thing is...I've seen most of the gags in other movies.

I can't really recommend this one, but if you have someone around you that wants to see it, you won't die from watching it...

I found this movie to be very charming... and I'm not even a pet owner. Easily as good, if not better than "Zootopia" and "Finding Dory" this year, and FAR better than "Angry Birds". I laughed a lot at this movie and my 7 & 9 year old kids thought it was "awesome". Great voice talent involved and the animators do a great job creating the idealized New York City (i.e. clean, beautiful, & full of happy people).

The two biggest tests for movies obviously aimed at children are these: 1) Is it too long? & 2) Will the parents go nuts with boredom or irritation watching it with their kids? To that I can answer, 1) It's only 90 minutes & 2) I think there might be more things for adults to enjoy in this movie than kids. I was thoroughly entertained & fully expect to add this one to our family movie collection later this year.

There's also a Minions animated short at the beginning that is slow to get going, but pretty hilarious by the end.

The film was okay but it walks a road well travelled... animal gets lost, its friends try to find it, wicked animal catchers etc. There are some funny moments but I expected more.

Kevin Hart makes mi laugh so much.
He was adorable and super crazy.

Now this movie isn't a woof, i might be a 27 year old man, but i still have a child in me, and i can say i bloody loved this movie, it's all so true on how they show the pets, you can relate to it if you're pet owner or not.. brings you so much comedy all the way through.. loved it!!

lame movie, and very crude.

This was a really cute movie – the animations are great, especially because they don't try to be too realistic but use all the cliches that pet owners very well know and probably how they imagine their pets to behave when they're not at home ;)

The Secret Life of Pets is about a story of two dogs named Max and Duke, who learn to get to know/like each other going through a lot of up and downs.

I really enjoyed this movie! It was so so cute. I love dogs and it was fun to “get into their heads”, as well as all the other animals of course. I really enjoy the “feel good” feeling you get from these kind of movies, and I love the animation, everything is so colorful and happy. Gosh these movies make me happy, ha.

All the characters were super fun as well, and I really enjoyed that it was mainly animals and hardly any humans. The makers did an amazing job making a movie for every age!

The movie is cute, funny and charming but pretty much Toy Story with dogs. Since you have a dog "like Woody" who is very happy with his owner and home until she gets another dog. While together they go on a long journey home after they are caught by Animal Control.
The film isn't as original as trailers hinted since even the dog catcher thing and escaping the pound has been done how many times ? Otherwise the movie is fun with fine voice work nevertheless.

A lovely movie. So tender and heart warming. It's an emotional rollercoaster of laughs, action, mellow moments and tears. Damn. It has something for the little ones and adults alike (more for the adults, if you catch all the innuendos). The voice cast is top notch, and Kevin Hart cracks me up. Man, I'm gonna so buy this Blu-ray as soon as possible.

One comment. In the Minions short, the one in charge says "chupa la grasa" while making his sales pitch to the elderly couple, and that means "suck the grease" in Spanish. God... that made me laugh so much. It sets the tone for the next 90 minutes, at least for me.
