I hadn't read or heard anything about The Slumber Party Massacre, and was so ready for this to be bad...

Imagine my surprise when it turned out to be a rather good 80s slasher flick. It's of course filled with 80s slasher stuff like 30-year-old women playing teenagers and gratuitous nudity, but it still manages to be a rather ok movie.

If you like slashers, try this one out.

enjoyed this slasher! VERY 80s, right down to the little tight tight shorts!

**Other than the great ending, there isn’t much here besides an average slasher.**

I think the best thing you can say about "The Slumber Party Massacre" is that the movie delivers exactly what you'd expect. It's a schlocky 80s slasher with an overabundance of gratuitous nudity. If you like that, you'll definitely get your money's worth. And I would say that the movie is on a technical level better than it had to be, even if it sometimes tries a little too hard to imitate "Halloween". Of course, it doesn't even come close, especially because the killer is really weak and the kills aren't exactly bursting with creativity. You shouldn't necessarily expect good acting, either. All in all, however, "The Slumber Party Massacre" is a thoroughly entertaining slasher that is also tightly paced, clocking in at only 76 minutes.

Exactly what you'd expect from the title. Nothing too special or scaey but it's a pretty fun 80s slasher flick with feminism commentary. Nice to see golden age slasher directed by woman. I liked how the killer is just a regular guy.

A pretty by-the-numbers '80s slasher movie, complete with weak jump scares, and a fair amount of nudity. You can tell TSPM really wanted to be Halloween - the obvious example being one of our male characters franticly pounding on a door as the killer approaches. Speaking of Halloween, this was the early '80s, when slasher movies were at their height; within the pantheon of slashers, we have: Krueger, Myers, Voorhees... then we have Russ Thorn... in his denim. Our main characters are forgettable, the kills are boring. There is nothing in TSPM that was not been done in dozens of other slasher movies, only far better.
My main problem with this movie is an actor full on cuts a snail in half with a knife in a scene. I know this doesn't matter to 97% of the population, but it matters to me. No living being needed to die for this shitty movie's lack of creativity.

Gratuitous nudity, nasty violence, and a cheesy script: Yup, its 80s horror time!! It's not a great movie but you have seen worse!

I thought this was a decent horror film. The story wasn't anything special in my opinion, there were some good kills however. I especially liked the ending scene, in which Valerie tries to kill the killer with a machete.
