I'm dumbfounded right now. Best film I've seen in months. Magical realism through instinctual wonder but the undercurrent of the golden colmena that is your life remains whenever you return home.

As exciting as a waiting room. Nothing happens. Boring as all hell. Good performances from the kids but that’s about it. I do’t give a shit about themes and symbols if the movie is boring. How the hell this ends up on top 100 lists, i don’t know. 2/10

Absolutely beautiful film. It depicts the lives of 2 sisters in Spain during the end of the Spanish Civil War. They watch the movie Frankenstein, amble about in the rural countryside, make up fantasy stories and trick each other. In that sense it's a coming of age movie but also one about socio- More

Good movie about children's world and believes with magnificent Fernando Fernán Gómez and really good performance from Ana Torrent.

The script is *really* good and depicts pretty well a stage in Spanish countryside life after the civil war.

A must to be seen.
