_The Twentieth Century_ is a sock puppet show in a shoe box to entertain warring historians on the front lines of their tomes.

Mix equal parts _Grand Budapest Hotel_, _Brazil_, _Death of Stalin_ and add a pinch of _One from the Heart_ and you have this heady cocktail of a 'biopic' that looks as drink as you'll feel.

I only wish I knew more about Canadian history and Canada herself to feel the full effect of the punch.

[Filmin] The director seems like a gifted disciple of Guy Maddin, indeed. At times it is close to the Monthy Python (The Dominion School of Nationhood). You can enjoy the creativity, but it works better as a copy than an original interpretation of the apparently absurd history of Canada.
