You know a movie is bad when you're rooting for the wave.

I really gotta say, I didn't expected it to be that entertaining! The film has great Effects, great setpieces within this small area, good performances and the wave scene was thrilling! And I also liked the fact, that the people who die or are in danger, are all actually kind of neighbors. That makes it more personal then most other desaster movies. Just a thought in my head. :-D

Despite that, the story is of course kind of tipical, so no big surprises there and I was not really emotionally moved. But for me the pros were definitely too good, to call it a bad film!
I think it was quite good actually. :-)

I believe that this movie is underrated..I liked a lot of things about it and i would rate it as 7.5/10

First 45 minutes are not boring but action comes in the second part.I liked cinematography,directing and ofcourse the powerfull point of this movie is acting..Suprisingly good especially from Joner and Torp..Ok it was a little cliche like Hollywood movies but in the end in some points maybe you are going to doubt about what happens finally.

If this was a Hollywood movie, it would be mostly about boring family drama and everything exploding. As a Scandinavian movie, it's mostly about boring family drama and trying not to drown in a flooded building. I think there was a tsunami somewhere there, too, which I kind of expected to be the star. Disappointing.

A fairly run-of-the-mill disaster flick but with great characters and moments of sharp writing. The acting is all wonderful. The visual effects are impressive. It has some thrills, and the climax of the film is powerful. Towards the end, the movie gets dull and loses most of its impact. Overall, a good movie though.

"The Wave" is an impressive disaster film. It centers on a small tourist town on a beautiful mountain pass in Norway. It is so scenic. I can't believe that there could be many more amazing looking locations on the planet.

The disaster itself is well done. When the wave finally hits, it's exciting and you can feel the struggle for survival that a couple of the main characters go through. Those characters, by the way, are extremely easy to pull for. They are without a doubt the strength of the film.

There isn't anything that will surprise here because it's kind of a paint-by-the-numbers tale of impending doom. One guys knows there's trouble brewing and no one believes him. But that predictability doesn't mean that this is boring. It's really put together well and the investment made by the director to establish the characters pays off.

The existing real threat is a good foundation for the plot of the disaster movie. The above, combined with acceptable special effects, gives a good outcome.

I do tend to like disaster movies, and The Wave is no exception, but it is a bit long-winded, and suffer from the fact that it tried to be a bit different, but failed. Like any other disaster movie, the story is not all that much to talk about, but the action and special effects are decent and the acting was surprisingly good.

If you are a fan of the genre...sure...give it a try.

so bad I almost fell asleep
