This film left me feeling incredibly frustrated with its wasted potential.

The Wife tries so hard to tell a compelling story about marriage, relationships, writers and writing, but it fails to deliver on all accounts as the script feels overly melodramatic and the plot becomes very predictable very quickly. There are also numerous scenes that drag on and on for no apparent reason, as if the actors were told to delay their lines and just stand there to make the scenes lengthier.

[spoiler]The character the audience is rooting for is definitely, as intended, Glenn Close's,[/spoiler] but that's easy when all the other characters are unlikable, even on the verge of unbearable.

So if you want to see Glenn Close acting really well, then sure, go see the movie and tune out everything else.
