The thing with this movie is that it started as a typical chinese series, long and slow introduction so you get to know each character, their motivations and a few set ups that will fall into pieces later on, but all this build up, which indeed made the first half slow, actually worked against the movie. The second half seems too rushed in comparison to the first, the "boss fight" was barely 5 minutes, and even characters relationships suffered from it, everyone just bound over a night. While the fight was kind of cool I didn't really felt worried, because even the weakest member of the good guys was protected by plot armour and the only one that died...well, let's just say we didn't have enough time to _care_ about it, let alone believe it's death meant anything for the others.

there is an ending credit scene that suggest the movie will have a sequel, but I'll be honest, this should have been a full series rather than a movie.
