In This Must Be The Place we follow the life of Cheyenne, a middle aged man that once was a famous rock star. Everything around him has changed but he is trapped in the past. He lives in Dublin in a luxurious house, he made so much money that since his retirement he never did anything more, he don't need to care about work but he is always sad and bored. He is a very peculiar man and still dresses himself in a gothic way.
News arrived from New York City saying that his father who he doesn't see in 30 years, is close to death. The idea of not being loved by him made him go away to Ireland a very youth age, and this was the main reason to travel there to be reconciled with him but when he arrives there it was too late.
After that tragic event he discovers more things about his father than when he was alive. He discovered that his father was obsessed by finding a criminal Nazi that he had met at Auschwitz during the Holocaust. And then Cheyenne decides to complete his father's mission and started a journey in the pursuit of this man.

My usual appreciation and congratulations goes once again to Paolo Sorrentino's writting, directing, cinametography, soundtrack and amazing different characters.

Sean Penn did an amazing performance! He is super awkward, his voice is perfect for the fragility that the character needs. Behind is strong and fearless look, when Penn's open his mouth we can see his sensitivity and his fear of the world where he live in. He will also make you laugh at times. The lovely Frances McDormand is also always great no matter the role, big or small.

Above all this is a story of about a grown up man trying to finally find himself, loosing all of his fears and discovering that afterall those years he was still a child and without putting behind some issues of his live he was never be able to truly grow up.

Like in all of Paolo Sorrentino's films we need to pay attention to a lot of details, some thing might not make very sense at the beginning but when you get to the end of the film, you will see that it all made sense all the time.

And with this film I ended my journey through Paolo Sorrentino's filmography, but I am sure that I will revisit his films in the future. I can surely affirm that he became one of my favourite directors.
