Nothing special. Expected more from Jolie but unfortunately one more time killer, ordinary movie.

My expectations weren’t as high as the flames in this film, but I felt that the heat was on for most of the time. So the cast and crew did a decent action flick here, one to recommend. It could however have gone deeper into the background of story and perhaps not rushed the plot too quickly.

One of the most mind numbingly stupid movies I've ever seen. Scientifically inaccurate. Cringe dialogue. Full of tropes. Could've ended the movie 5 minutes in with a tweet, a Reddit post, anything. The internet exists; you don't need to personally meet with the news to break a story. Just truly awful.

Yeah it had it’s unrealistic side to it but most films do but other than that this film was pretty decent, with a cast that all were on fire with their performances and the plot was a little rushed but over all I enjoyed the film.

Liked this movie a lot. The story is not perfect, but I like it nonetheless. And great visuals and scenery!

Good for the most part with some very suspenseful moments and some good action scenes. It hits a few familiar plot points and the ending is a little rushed but with a good story and strong acting, there is still much to recommend here.

Go away Angelina Jolie. That's Beth Dutton's kid. You can't adopt him. I'm telling Beth.:rage:

The movie was good, indeed. But i was waiting for the secret reveal and a nice warm scene between Angelina and the kid. Nvm. My bad. :/

Edit : Let me know if you wanted it too.

Better then I expected, much worse then it could have been.

The scenery is fantastic as is the fire scenes.

The acting is ok, not great. Even Angelina Jolie who I've never been a fan of.

But, the character development is non existent.
I can accept Hannah and Connor surviving by submerging in the stream, although I'd think the air they keep coming up for would be super heated. But how does the fire watch tower survive? I'm guessing most of it was metal? But why wouldn't the cabin part burn? The movie only shows wood up there, it doesn't explain very much! And they leave the movie hanging. The kid is safe. Or is he? Is that the boss in the U.S Marshal's truck? The movie never explains what the father found, who's after him, what the note says that the father gave the kid, nothing.
Very unsatisfactory. I would have give it a 5, maybe a weak 6 but the scenery and fire scenes bumped it up to a 7.

As for the tower, although I remembered so much wood from earlier in the movie, at the end it shown to have metal legs: so the fire would be nowhere near the wooden cabin atop the tower, since it would have no path up from the ground that high, I believe. The fire is so high elsewhere because the trees that the fire follow up are that tall.

The only black guy I saw with the Marshals at the end was too dark to be Tyler Perry, the boss you asked about.

As for fear over the Marshals's trustability, yes, I had that too; but then you see the news truck pull up right after, and the idea is that once the info is live-broadcasted, the damage is basically already done and the threat from the boy is then gone.

The details that you cite that the movie didn't reveal were all irrelevant, unnecessary, to me. The details of them don't change the shape of the movie, only their existence does, and thus they are okay left as mere abstractions in a movie if it's aiming more for action. (though the movie could have taken a different route with more ambitions than this—and maybe it was trying to—in which case maybe the details could help in, e.g., drawing out more emotions.)

… and since I've now posted the following as a reply to someone, I'll add it here also. the notes contained:

info on the crimes and implied crimes of miscellaneous powerful people (found by the father's forensic/criminal/testimonial/evidential accounting work), intended to be used to indict and/or unmask those crooks (whose interests are being represented/protected by the black guy who hired the two assassins). Compare it to (pointers to) evidence of who used Epstein's underage-human-trafficking services.

(the details aren't important, are they? isn't “evidence of crimes worth mass-murdering uninvolved innocent commoners and killing governmental officials— crimes committed by people with power in/over various law enforcement offices” already satisfactory in detail?)

Wasn’t the worst film and the first half certainly had me hooked. Unfortunately the second half is when I really started losing interest and frankly didn’t care what happened to anyone in the film by that point.
It’s a shame as this film has a very strong cast but the actors can only work with what they get and this did not give them much at all.

>"No one makes it through that, baby."

This felt a little average considering it is a Taylor Sheridan film, but it has it's moments. Angelina is as good as she always is, but I found that Jon Bernthal and Medina Senghore were the stars of this movie. I could watch a film just about them and the survival training school.

I enjoyed this a whole lot more than I expected to. Granted it is not a great movie but it was entertaining. I especially like a story where the local yokels give the bad guys their comeuppance.

How I rate:
1-3  = seriously! don't waste your time
4-6  = you may or may not enjoy this
7-8  = I expect you will like this too
9-10  = movies and TV shows I really love!

Decent movie to waste 1.5 hours of your time but will leave you with a lot of questions. It's a good thing we are no longer paying movie theaters for garbage movies. Watch at your own risk but be prepared for a lot of questions such as:
1.) Who were the assassins? (and what is their background?)
2.) Who do they work for?
3.) Why are they after the people?
4.) What was the secret they told the media?
5.) Did The Punisher survive?
6.) Does the Tomb Raider adopt the kid?
7.) How did they all survive the fire?
8.) What happens to the kid?

It seems this movie was written and created by children of movie starts...I guess they needed a project during COVID to keep themselves busy. I literally can't think of any other reason for this movie.

This is fine. That's really all you need to hear. If you're intrigued by the Angelina-Jolie-as-a-firefighter premise, you won't be disappointed. If you're looking for something more than an okay movie, you likely will be.

Aside from the atrocious miscasting of Angelina as Hannah, Those Who Wish Me Dead is a lacking, by-the-numbers thriller that seems to have more to say than it eventually ends up saying. There's lots of metaphors here about raging fires (raging fire to survive, raging love between two people, raging fear of past trangressions) as well as the baptism by fire (& the river) in the final act, but they all fall through thanks to the mediocre production values and weak performances by all involved. Don't waste your time, I hear the book is actually very good if you wish to experience the story in a much better format over this mediocrity fest.

It was good and I’m glad I watched it but I don’t know if I would watch it again because they left so many unexplained details, not enough character development, Tyler Perry is in ONE scene with maybe 3 lines and it has an unsatisfying ending.
On the plus side, Angelina Jolie is still phenomenal and that kid is an amazing actor who is going to go on to do some really great things!
The kid really was a stand out!

Maybe if they could remake the ending and give us a scene of the young man reading his dad’s letter to the news cameras (so we can know what exactly his father found that was so dangerous to the people trying to kill them) and then show Angelina Jolie adopting the boy.

It isn’t perfectly concluded but will keep your attention due to a fine cast. The end it is like the movie was just a pilot to a tv show all along.

Those who wished me dead

6/10

A fairly decent action thriller with sufficient amount of adrenaline rush but fails to bind the attention and leaves you unsatisfied. Watch it only if you are a fan of survival movies and Angenlina Jolie.

Meh. The kid is good, ex-twd is good, pregnant lady kicks ass but Jolie and the rest just... it's worth a watch if you have nothing to do, but it's not an amazing movie.
