George Lucas' 1st film, his student project brought to life in feature format and his creative spark ignited with the help of Francis Ford Coppola. It's not a hugely polished plot and has a quite a mundane bunch of themes in it. But the visuals, considering it was 1971, give a glimpse into what was to come from Lucas. Robert Duvall is as good as ever

Boring as hell, I hate movies where the director is more interested in the visuals than the narrative.

Just because you didn't understand the movie doesn't mean that the movie is bad or that the "narrative" is shit, that's more on your fault lol

I'm always reluctant to watch old movies, even if they are well rated.

I'm glad that I watched this. I surely didn't expect anything of this caliber. The director didn't do any special fx which made this movie absolutely watchable and not too old-fashioned.

I can absolutely recommend this movie to any viewer interested in scifi with an age of 20 and above (not because of the violence, but because of the required education to truly endulge in this masterpiece).

Bleak and somber dystopian sci-fi flick. There's some interesting (if a little cliche) ideas and design at play here, but the film drags to much to be truly great. Feels a little pretentious.

What the hell have I just watched? A bleak dystopian vision of the future, THX 1138 is paced slower than a sloth on sedatives with a storyline that raises more questions than it answers. Characters are introduced for no reason and add nothing to the story which has an abrupt and unsatisfactory conclusion. Robert Duvall is probably the only positive in this film with his performance as the titular THX 1138, but ultimately that isn't the highest praise it could be. Don't bother watching this, just read the synopsis on WIkipedia!

Catching up before it's leaving HBO Max. Pretty interesting dystopian science fiction film but not an easy watch. It's really unique and absurd. This kinda reminds me of Kubrick's works. A large amount of this is filmed in white rooms. I love the way it's shot, there's a lot of neat cinematography here with cool concepts and absolutely fantastic set design. There's a ton to admire from the visual department. Unfortunately it fails to fully deliver on what it could’ve been due to a lack of development of any idea. It's pretty short but feels incredibly long. I wasn't really invested in the story. The sound annoys me. It's either too loud or too quiet. The performances are just ok. I think it'll work better as a short film.
