I'm not sure there was anything here maybe that hasn't been covered before. I often think that news people in modern times are ruthless beyond belief but actually when you watch historical footage like this you realise they have always been just as despicable.

Even if there wasn't much (if any) fresh discussion here it's still a wonderful celebration of a person battling the odds to become one of the most successful and well loved people in my lifetime.

Believe it Tina, you are The Best!

What a documentary. I feel like I've done 12 rounds in the ring!

Before I say anything else, all praise to the wonderful force of nature that is Tina Turner or Miss Anna Mae Bullock. You have deserved every ounce of your success and I wish you a continued peaceful and joyful retirement.

The first hour is the inevitable recap of the events that forged this astonishing woman. Her marriage to Ike Turner - one of the best rhythm guitarists the world has known but an absolutely tiny and insecure bully of a man.

The second hour is the recounting of her superstardom in the 80s and 90s - which I witnessed as a youngster and still blows me away to recall now.

And the most touching of a final 25 minutes when the justly deserved happiness arrives. Her marriage and hugely dignified step back from the limelight. To see her so clearly in love and overjoyed was a triumphant moment that will live long in my memory.

HBO are making some great documentaries about music icons. This one is their best so far.

[CPH:DOX] Although it is said that the media did not allow Tina Turner to close that time of her life with mistreatment and abuse, the film falls into precisely that. "It wasn't a good life. The goodness does not balance the bad." The chronological structure benefits the story, but above all it is a celebration of survival as an artist, as a person, as a human being. A brilliant farewell to a true superwoman.

Been watching Tina the HBO/SKY doc.Wow i had partially forgotten what a powerhouse of spirit Tina Turner was in her earlier years.Utterly amazing.....i need to stay up listening to those early rock n roll and Gospel tracks again.Wow could she move and dance too.Her life story and ill fated marriage and eventual spiritual conversion and every other detail in between is interesting to hear about even though i've heard most of it before.I love it when you revisit an artist afresh with a refreshed perspective.

I really know so little about Tina Turner and I was glad to see this documentary to learn as much as I did. A well rounded film with Tina herself who really looks fantastic and well. The film is great but frankly I believe it could have been longer instead of zooming here and there which gives the (wrong?) feeling that some times of her life are being ignored. All together, a great, must-see documentary.
