I must say that I'm disappointed. It's not good. I did like that story in the manga and anime format, but here it's just bad. That movie don't respect the original version of the story. In the real story, ghouls are shown as part of the society, similar as human, and in that movie ghouls are shown as parasites. It's quite the opposite of what the author wanted to transmit... I won't talk about the rest, no needs, it's a waste of time.

Not the best live action adaptation but not the worst either. The casting was pretty well-done with Kubota giving his all as Kaneki and he somehow managed to make him even crazier. The CG was pretty good and the direction too, it's a good watch for someone who loves the whole Tokyo Ghoul franchise.

Like so many of these live-action movies, you need to have watched the anime to get understand the story. It seems to be standard practice seems to be to try and cover all of a Season 1 anime in a movie - and fail to make it cohesive to those people unfamiliar with the material. In this case, there were some big omissions, but they were (I think) done reasonably well, but still the story felt like it was "going through the motions" and didn't really add much.

I think it will probably only be well received by those with a passing knowledge of Tokyo Ghoul, but who will look at this as light entertainment rather than a critical remake.

Gets a little too over-the-top with the tentacle action. Might've been easier to swallow if the CG animation was a bit better. Aside from that it's a pretty decent manga adaptation. It's moody and does pretty well with the drama of the age-old story of a monster with a foot in both worlds.

Quite boring, it's exactly the same scenes as in the anime series. Therefore, I liked the acting of the characters, and the extra.gore they added in the movie, at least the action scenes were fun to watch.

@takox Wrong, in the anime series scenes are better. Acting is not that remarkable compared to the voice acting in the series. Also, background stories aren't amazing in the movie, same as the story itself, it's too predictable.

Tokyo Ghoul is a live-action adaptation of the manga of the same name, about a boy named Kaneki Ken who is implanted with the organs of a ghoul and who then starts displaying traits of a ghoul. The story is largely faithful to the manga and stops pretty soon into the manga's storyline. The visual effects are pretty funny and the acting is decent, but Kaneki's casting was a little odd to me. Hido was a really great cast member, as was Nishio and Touka. Still worth watching even though it's dumb.
