I loved this so much as a kid. I watched the crap out of that VHS, you might say I made that tape... spin like crazy. Get it? Ok moving on.

It has been a long time since I've watched it, and my tastes in film has been slightly altered. So I thought going in that my opinion would be vastly different. But you know what? This is still really fun to watch. Sure, if you look at this scientifically it makes no sense at all. Any sort of reason or competency by the characters must have been blown away (get it? laugh this time? no, ok).

However, if you look at this as a fantasy type film, it is very enjoyable. All the characters are super over the top and fun, especially Philip Seymour Hoffman. He matches the craziness with his line deliveries. The explanation of the 'suck zone' would not have been nearly as entertaining without him.

If you're looking for a serious drama, then tornadon't watch this. But if you want to have some fun with a group of friends, then by all means tornadoo.

Never forgetting that flying cow. Great, classic movie from back in the day - and to the comment about the CGi being terrible, look it it's release date.

I wanted to see this movie again, because I hadn't seen it in years. It turns out that it's laughably terrible. It beggars belief how popular and successful this thing was. God. The CGI is so terrible. I wish this movie would get hit by a Tornado.

@mr-sackamano Ha! I was just thinking the same thing about Hunt. Probably been 20 years since I last saw this, but she was rocking that outfit!

_Twister_ is a classic disaster movie that has stood the test of time. The film's original plot, which centers around a group of storm chasers trying to track down tornadoes, is both thrilling and entertaining. While I expected the acting to be better considering the star-studded cast, the performances are still solid enough to carry the film. Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton have great chemistry and their characters' shared passion for storm chasing is infectious. One of the standout features of _Twister_ is its special effects, which were groundbreaking for their time. The tornado scenes are still impressive to watch today, and the film's use of practical effects and real-life locations adds to its authenticity.

This is a great fast-paced and tense action flick. The late Phillip Seymour Hoffman as Dusty and the late Bill Paxton are both fantastic actors in this. Each of the characters have unique and extremely lovable personalities. Their quest to finally be able to study tornadoes accurately is a good enough reason to root for these hilarious scientists.

Please give it a shot. It's full of great practical and digital effects that still hold up years, it has outstanding performances from the entire cast, and some great music from Mark Mancina.

Today, on February 26th, 2017, we say goodbye to "The Extreme." The one, the only, Bill Paxton. I love him so much in everything he's in, but this is the one role that stands out to me the most.

R.I.P. Bill Paxton

It's been ages since I last seen _Twister_ (1996), and now it is playing on AMC. I remember it being a major TV event back in the day (either FOX or WB channel). The signature flying cow has been parodied in a variety of shows and media (in a recent _The Simpson_ episode, for example). Now viewing as an adult and realizing the familiar cast; Helen Hunt is pretty in this one; I really liked her in the _Trancers_ (1985) series. I like the references to _The Wizard of Oz_ (1939) with the image of Dorothy on that weather machine (With both being from WB, and my name is Roth whereas my friend likes to call me DoRothy). Plus, there's the film's title "Look! A twister! A twister!" as heard/read in the Oz film/novel. There's also a clip to the classic Kubrick/King film, _The Shining_ (1980) seen later in the film. Coincidentally, I'm listening to this week's episode of ABGT 240 live on YouTube, and there featured a new track titled "Shining" by Grum. Quite a memorable one when it comes to the natural disaster genre of films.

Twister doesn't take itself too serious and the performances and great visuals make it memorable. The ending gets a little cheesy but the dynamic between the crew and enjoyable turns from Helen Hunt, Bill Paxton and Philip Seymour Hoffman make the film a fun watch that hold up surprisingly well.

A bit silly and despite being one of late great Bill Paxton's more memorable roles. He has played better characters than a unrealistic tornado chaser who can sense when they are coming. Late Phillip Seymour Hoffman definitely moved on to better roles as well, than a goofball tornado chasing sidekick.
However the great effects made the film good. Paxton and Helen Hunt (As Good as It Gets) also had some fine chemistry. There's just so many silly things you could list. Like the competition tornado chasers all driving black trucks. "Oh no...evil tornado chasers that steal your ideas."
Who better to play a cocky jerk tornado chaser than Cary Elwes though ?

"She did not marry your penis... Okay, alright, she didn't only marry your penis."

I just love the fact that the "bad guys" in Twister are bad because they got corporate money. And choosing to chase Tornadoes with corporate backing means you day in a horrific way. Did not see a death like this coming.

Anyway Twister has been here on TV a lot and I've seen bits here and there but never the full movie. So this morning I thought let me watch Jan de Bont's Twister and damn if it isn't entertaining. Philip Seymour Hoffman is so much fun to watch in this one. Helen Hunt is always a treat to see and Bill Paxton is Bill Paxton.

I love that they always know how to predict the way the Tornado goes and that they keep seeing how unpredictable they are. But hey, we want to have fun right? And this is blockbuster fun!

Anyway, Twister is a fun way to start one's weekend off!
