Maybe this movie is not for grown-ups, but what even is this story? The script is terrible

It's another fun sequel in the Spy Kids series. Nothing special about it. It's just 90 minutes of a little bit of fun. Kids will certainly enjoy it and adults can too if they embrace their inner child.

How I rate:
1-3  = seriously! don't waste your time
4-6  = you may or may not enjoy this
7-8  = I expect you will like this too
9-10  = movies and TV shows I really love!

Boy, oh boy. It’s just cheesy. Nostalgia isn’t there. It’s got Easter eggs for fans of the series, but I would rather just watch the old movies at this point. I’m sure kids will find some enjoyment here, but it’s not one I will revisit.

Rating: 1/5 - 55% - Would Not Recommend

Look, I’ve seen all the others. I was obligated. On most levels, this entry is a misfire, a confused retread of earlier Spy Kids (the plot of the first, the skeletons of the second, the video game worship of the 3rd) with a worse cast. Banderas and Gugino are replaced by Zachary Levi and Gina Rodriguez in one of the biggest downgrades ever seen, and even Trejo stays far away. The effects have only gotten worse and lost their charm. The writing’s only a slight step up from the last one, and that’s an incredibly low bar.

And yet. It has some surprising critiques of its spy agency that feels surprisingly pointed at times and rejects punitive methods in favor of rehabilitation. It was wrong of the parents to destabilize a country and take the resources of its king. The kids even say putting the villain in a prison won’t make him better. There’s something here. It’s nowhere near done often enough or executed well enough to make this anything approaching good, but it shows Rodriguez wasn’t just phoning it in. He was attempting something, and that puts it above Spy Kids 4.

I could dig thru the couch cushions, and find enough change to double the special effects budget. My 6 year old enjoyed it, though, and that's what counts.

I'm at a loss for words and I don't want to deduct too many stars unnecessarily, as I'm no longer the target age group for this. However, in the story, I think the dialogues are horrible. To be honest, I'd prefer watching Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over again over this.

Spy Kids 5 Armageddon: A fun spy kids movie like always and based on things like daily life tech that we have right now. But if you ever have seen the first Spy Kids movie this is definitely a downgrade.

My personal top 3 of Spy Kids movies:

- Spy Kids 1
- Spy Kids 3-D Game Over (Some characters will be met in Spy Kids 2)
- Spy Kids 4 All the Time in the world.

For a kids' movie, this is excellent. The casting and acting were great, as well as the story and action. Reminded me of past spy kids movies. The jokes were funny enough for a kid audience, although I did laugh afew times. For a Spy Kids movie, though, it was mediocre. It had no 'iconic' side like past movies. It just felt like a "We need money? We have spy kids." type of project. The cgi could have been a lot better, unlike the messages, which were made more than clear. Great for families, especially because of the dynamics.
