As a documentary - 8.
As a story - 6.5.

Visceral. That's how much the anger is still oozing out of Willy T. Ribbs.

It's a difficult watch to look back 35 years and see a world much different to today - yet not different enough.

Today thankfully the racism isn't stood for as I see watching my own hero, Lewis Hamilton, race. But the lack of diversity and representation means we're still not where we should be.

I feel like Willy's personality ruined many of his chances before they could bear the fruit that he could use to make progress through momentum. Every door shut no sooner than it had opened.

The trailblazers of the past had to fight for what was rightfully theirs. At some point the fighting needs to stop and the game be played intellectually for the long term. I got the feeling that Willy still hasn't learned that lesson fully.

The documentary had good footage, good interviews and told his story as best they could. I applaud his successes and the doors he opened.
