This did very little for me. It is not scary. Gory? Sure. Cheap nudity? Yep. Scary? Not in the least.

To my pleasure, the second installment of the anthology is an improvement!

The wrap-around story still goes on about the right order to watch the tapes but is again rather weak (and the silliest in the logic and acting departement). I certainly wouldn't mind getting to see a couple more tapes until this one is resolved. Adam Wingard does a modern ghost story which has it moments but is a bit predictable, the Blair Witch guys give zombies a heart, Jason Eisener does a tad too weird "Slumber Party" (poor doggie) and well: Gareth Evans (The Raid) and Timo Tjahjanto (Macabre) steal the show. The way the shit blows up is similar to the haunted house story in the first one - just a lot more evil (I can forgive some convinient POV shots and the black-eye stuff). It's also the goriest which is certainly Timo's bidding.
Mind you, this is an assault of modern horror stories and less of a thoughtful experience. It's very much a playground for found footage horror.

Way better than the first one.
I feel like this time they took more stuff out of the horror classics and tried to make them contemporary or some shit like that idk.

The poster it's pretty rad, tho.

An entertaining zombie sequence, but a whole film can’t ride on one sequence alone.

I saw this movie a while ago, I'm watching it on a YT video and that's what I'm going to base my commentary on.

Tape 49, without pain or glory, but it was not bad, they could improve that part.8/10

Story 1: phase one of clinical trials 1.- sees ghosts with technology, it wasn't bad but... 6.5/10

Story 2: a ride in the park.- applied a kurt cobain at the end,it was "cute",but a zombie who realized what he became,it was ok. 7.5/10

Story 3: safe haven.- hahahahah I don't know how they come up with these things, the first time I saw it I shit myself, well it's a good story the cultists and the demon that appears was very good, and the last scene was uff GOD...9/10

Story 4: alien abduction slumber party - typical aliens, the impersonation of cops was good, not bad. 7/10

3 Thoughts After Watching ‘V/H/S/2’:

1. This sequel took everything that was wrong with the first one and completely fixed it. This is a solid horror anthology worth recommending.

2. I wish the central story provided more insight into the lore of the tapes, and wasn’t just used as a vehicle to tell the tales. Still, this is a major improvement from the original.

3. Was there anything especially groundbreaking here? Not really. _(Though I’m not sure I’ve ever seen the POV of a zombie before.)_ But I would say all the stories were equally entertaining, well-acted, and there was a decent variety.

Like a cub scout den of evil because it looked handmade and it was so camp.

If you didn't like the first V/H/S, don't worry, this one will make you love it, because V/H/S/2 makes the first one look like 2021 A VHS Odyssey.

The acting, which was actually one of the plusses of the original is consistently sub par here. You can actually see the actors waiting to say their lines. The stories have a below zero scare factor, the premises are just ridiculous and the costumes / special effects are a waste of good trash.

You know it's a bad horror movie when not even found footage can save it.

A big improvement over the first film but if only they’d replaced the satanic cult crap which was the longest one with a better story then would’ve scored higher.
Phase 1 clinical trials - 7/10.
A ride in the park - 9/10.
Safe haven - 3/10.
Summer party alien abduction - 9/10.

I found the collection of stories in this one to be considerably better than the original V/H/S but sadly, it still felt like a total waste of time. The stories seemed (to me) to be more hell-bent on being gory rather than truly scary. And I didn't follow the wraparound story AT ALL.
What happened to the chick who developed the nosebleed/migraine? And I still have no idea what the deal was with the guy only blowing off his lower jaw instead of shooting himself through the head?
Still trying to figure that one out... The camera effects are quite violent in this one and the graininess seems to be considerably worse than the original, so if handheld cameras throw you, you probably want to give this one a pass. Come to think of it, you should give this one a pass anyway and save yourself a good hour and a half. This wasn't worth the time, really.

As gruesome and vulgar as the original, V/H/S/2 is a collection of the disgusting and the bizarre. The film is an anthology of horror tales that includes ghosts, zombies, demons, and aliens. However, the storytelling isn’t very good and is mainly interested in delivering shocks and jump scares. Additionally, the found footage conceit doesn’t work and seems contrived. V/H/S/2 is an ugly, morose film that’s incredibly disturbing.

I do not know why but I like V / H / S movies too much. They make me feel uncomfortable and they also manage to scare me too much. The last video of the aliens was really disturbing.

"Safe Haven" was the bizarrest and most outlandish thing I've seen in a while. Not a very good movie though.

Way better than the previous one. This sequel is more focused on action and gore, i expecially liked the shorts "A Ride in the Park" and "Safe Haven", they have good stories (the idea behind the first is brilliant) and most of all they are masterfully directed.
Indeed they are directed respectively by Eduardo Sanchez (The Blair Witch Project) and Timo Tjahjanto-Gareth Evans (The Raid), masters of their craft.
