V/H/S/85 is my least favourite out of the new V/H/S/ films. It’s a shame because I was looking forward to this one. It’s not a bad movie or anything like V/H/S: Viral.

There were some compelling ideas, with one segment involving a lake with supernatural abilities if you go into the water. Or how about a detective receiving video tapes filmed by a serial killer of a series of murders that has yet to happen, and the detective must track down the potential victims before it happens?

Speaking of that, the segment Dreamkill by director Scott Derrickson was my favourite. I noticed that Derrickson pulled ideas from his other movies, such as his 2012 film ‘Sinister’, where we get a Super 8-found footage POV of the killer committing the horrific acts. Or how the crime scenes looked straight out of Michael Mann’s ‘Manhunter’. Great stuff.

The scene transitions could have been smoother, as it did feel like I was watching a Nick Crowley YouTube video at times, which isn’t an insult to Crowley himself; it’s just a unique editing style that I didn’t expect a movie production to take on board, intentional or not. It took me a bit to realize when the next horror segment started, as it wasn’t always crystal clear.

Despite that, I’m still looking forward to more movies in the future. Again, it is not a bad movie, just a bit disappointed.

1- **Total Copy**⠀5/10
The overarching documentary. The ending made this worthwhile. Lots of blood and what a weird alien look.

2- **No Wake**⠀8/10
Thought it would go with the obvious monster in the lake or something but awesome twist didn't see that coming at all. Great gore. I want to know more about what kind of plague they have. I was sad it ended.

3- **God Of Death**⠀4/10
Decent comedy at the start with the channel news. It was so good and looked so realistic until the big reveal. Looked cheap and kinda laughable. Too much exposition for the entity. Didn't really understand if they just stumbled on that tomb and woke up the entity or if it was already awake and causing the earthquakes.

4- **TKNOGD**⠀5/10
I never stopped believing it was a stage play but I like the idea and awesome gore. A good actress. All hail the god of technology! If there is a god of technology, I sure as hell hope he doesn't look like that.

5- **Ambrosia**⠀7/10
*"Who wants a brownie, bitch?!"*
This is the follow up to "No Wake". What a twist! Sicko family + whatever *Cabin Fever* disease this is = karma. Love the combination of these two stories and honestly I wanted a full length feature!

6- **Dreamkill**⠀3/10
Marilyn Manson filming the tapes from *Sinister*. That dude was strong as hell, can take down a man with his bare hands while holding a camera. What happened with the acting in this one, it was terrible. Lots of blood. Bullet came out of the head apparently but didn't pierce the window. Decent concept, terrible execution.
