A very touching, if not a bit sobering look at life and how fleeting time can be for everyone. There may be some things that are a bit glossed over in terms of drama but it isn’t really suppose to be about that. I did come out on the other side with a lot of respect for Kilmer but it still shows a lot of limitations of his art versus his perception of his own talent. I don’t mean that as a knock we all do this in one form or another.

This doc was a surprising look at what can befall anyone at anytime. I knew of Val Kilmer health problems but was unaware of his situation in its entirety…. Very well made doc and very sentimental… I has a tear in my eye the entire time… a good watch

Very interesting documentary, especially since Val Kilmer recorded home movies for decades, giving us a lot of footage from when he was young, going to Juilliard, his movie roles and even a comic con.

Ofcourse it's a one sided view but at the very least it shows us an interesting life with ups and downs. My favourite part would probably be Val Kilmer arguing with John Frankenheimer on the set of The Island of Dr. Moreau.

Great choice to let his son be the voice over, I feel sorry for Val's condition and I'm happy he made this documentary.

Hidden in this documentary is glimpse of what could be a good mini series with more focus on his career using the self recorded footage. But Val was about the man foremost and his journey. It was a touching watch. It sadden me to see how the talk shows, the press etc spun the stories without a care. "No one turns down Batman"

A very touching film. Beautifully shot and directed. Sad and yet inspirational. Val Kilmer is an actor I grew up watching, and I’ve loved the vast majority of his film, not least The Doors, Heat, Top Gun, Tombstone… Willow and Thunderheart… and how about True Romance!

[Filmin] A stark and honest documentary about the acting profession and how a successful career can turn into a nightmare due to wrong decisions and a critical sense towards directors. Val Kilmer's obsession with constantly filming himself offers some amazing footage of his co-stars, while reflecting on destiny, life and trying to take charge when it starts to go off the rails. The film is more poignant in the current scenes, more candid and raw, an unindulgent view of losing the shine of movie stars.

Interesting to see the juxtaposition here between current Val and old Val. Current Val seems to have a lightness, a twinkle, a sense of humor, but old Val seems to have had issues with everybody he’s ever worked with. Hard to parse that distinction, and the movie doesn’t have the self-awareness or the perspective needed to address it.

Poignant, vulnerable, playful and rich with spiritual meaning. May (should) be Kilmer's most memorable and honest role...playing himself.
8/10

Fans of Kilmer and movie buffs in general should watch this fascinating documentary. There is a ton of behind the scenes footage of Kilmer’s movies, that he took himself, and lots of footage of the man as an actor, husband, son, and father. Incredibly insightful and considering the actor’s current struggles, also very moving. A must watch.
