Quite interesting and pretty astonishing that some of these 'experts' simply avoid or can't answer this simple question, at least the dictionary has the answer..

**What Is a Woman?**
> - An adult female person.

**What Is a Female?**
> - A person bearing two X chromosomes in the cell nuclei and normally having a vagina, a uterus and ovaries, and developing at puberty a relatively rounded body and enlarged breasts, and retaining a beardless face; a girl or woman.
> - An organism of the sex or sexual phase that normally produces egg cells.

This is genuinely interesting to watch. A well-crafted documentary that is all at once gripping, depressing and funny. It starts out hilarious and satirical then things start to get infuriating and emotional, then it finishes off back at being hilarious. The approach is simple and straightforward yet so effective. The message is delivered clearly with Walsh's humor that adds to the dynamic of the documentary. Good stuff.

@csrz It is interesting that your commentary is almost entirely positive yet you rate the movie a 6.

@justcharlie I rate films mainly on Letterboxd and using 5-star rating system, so it may seem like I'm giving it a low rating when converted into 10-star rating on Trakt.

@csrz good idea to be very critical, so a 8 doesn't become "ok", like some other sites

This documentary should win an Oscar but we both know that isn't going to happen because it questions the very fabric of the status quo. It questions reality and truth. Unfortunately today we live in a society where people are so comfortable with all of their basic necessities being met that they decided to create an alternative reality to create a new forms of struggle and decided everyone else who continues to live in the real world are the problem. I can promise you all of this would be non-existent if we did not have easy access to food, clean water, electricity and medication.

June 2020-2021 Pride Month were a blur because of COVID. People had bigger worries. We had a real life crisis.

After watching the documentary I began to realize something. I have never crossed path with a transgender homeless person. Have you?

@breezytm > because it questions the very fabric of the status quo

I don't think you understand the meaning of "status quo". You are a proponent of the status quo, everyone else is challenging it. Your position is 'keep everything the same'.

Anti-science reactionary guru saying some dumb things about the topic he has zero knowledge of. That's basically it. If you want to be disinformed or have a good laugh then you'll enjoy this movie

@unicornsandcandies he consults multiple experts in the documentary and they openly state their credentials. Doubt you even watched the movie.

@unicornsandcandies You do realize he consulted experts in the field of studies. He even went to a college professor who is supposed to be well qualified in the subject matter. At least he is supposed to be since he is teaching crap to our kids that he clearly does not understand himself. Doctors inject them with drugs they do not have enough data to know what the long term side effects are. Unless you believe they were not qualified. If so, why are they teaching and advising our children? Either way you look at it there is a problem. And giving circular answers is not answering a question. A professor should know that.

@breezytm You've judged it right. This documentary doesn't answer the question it's posing, and doesn't really seek to interrogate it. The only people who like it and found it 'enlightening' seem to people who already held that opinion going into it.

@jcags Only amongst the far-right extreme contingent of the US (who already believed this to begin with). To literally everyone else, it's put about the 120th nail in the coffin of thinking Walsh could ever be a credible source on anything.

This is a great documentary because it does not fall into the easy trap of being cynical mean-spirited criticism, but is rather a series of reasonable questions being posed to unreasonable people. It's fascinating how there is such a concerted effort to characterize asking questions which the gender politics community prefers not to be voiced as "transphobic". There is a concerning social development happening in the West and this is an important film and subject of inquiry. Recommended.

The doc is well made, informative and entertaining. Now to the topic: A simple question that you kid can answer but none of the experts in this doc can. We are now to a point where teenagers, encouraged by constant propaganda from every corner of society, who can't drink booze, drive, buy a gun or vote can decide to get their bodies damaged forever with their parents having no say in it. We are way past tolerance people, and this is now doing way more harm than good.

This was a great watch. It's a really difficult topic, but I like how it was handled in this documentary. I didn't know what to expect... it's the first time I can say I'm glad I watched the trailer. And I'm glad I watched this. It's really sad though, but it definitely needs to be out there.

My favourite moment in this great piece of art is when Matt says to that bearded dude in Dr. Phill's show:

"You want to appropriate womanhood and basically turn it into a costume that can be worn".

Gold.
