His best film yet. Is it exaggerated and manipulative? Yes, it's Michael Moore. What did you expect. However, he always does this to make a point that most Americans are too dense (or blinded by the idea of American exceptionalism) to get. We were once exceptional and he makes that point too. These ideas were originally American ideas. Yes, Europe has a better quality of life and we could too. As someone who has lived both places, but is American, I want us to have a better quality of life. I came back to America because I believed in this country. It's clear from this film that Moore does too.

Surprisingly optimistic, maybe too optimistic. It doesn't 'document' life in a realistic way or in a way that is expected from a documentary, but it definitely has a message and it delivers it very well.

Such a good Doc giving us a glimpse of what America could also have if we just opened our hearts and minds a little more, and stockpiled defense weapons a little less to pay for it.

**Moore** did it again. He found some more food for the minds of those open minded enough accept criticism and take different points of view. Sure, it's exaggerated and funny, and not as perfect as the examples, but posing serious questions should have to be boring. How a country, the US, has failed realizing some of its best ideas and had forgotten on what principles and whose blood the independence war was fought and won by leaving behind the many (middle class) to favor the very few members of a pseudo-aristocracy (the top 5%). Where and when did the revolution and the republic go so wrong to betray its own principles?

"Europe is better than America - The Movie".
It's the usual Michael Moore fare: he makes a valid point, but uses cherry-picked, exaggerated and sometimes plain false arguments in a very manipulatively edited manner to support it. I haven't fact-checked the entire film or looked up any articles fact-checking it yet, but during the German segment there were multiple statements that got shocked reactions from the (German) audience because they were simply not correct and could be disproven by a quick google search. He claimed, for instance, that Germany has a 36-hour workweek. There is no such thing as a standard 36-hour workweek! The typical German workweek has between 38.5 and 41 hours. He found one company that does 36 hours and just pretended that was the case throughout the country.

The film was genuinely funny though and thoroughly enjoyable. Just keep in mind that, while quality of life in most parts of Europe is better than it is in the US by just about every metric, this documentary is quite exaggerated and manipulative.

Not quite true what you're saying about the German part. While it's certainly exaggerated there is a common law that says that the regular working hours may not exceed 8 hours per day and 40 hours a week and if they do exceed that it must be compensated by freetime so it evens out over a 6 month period. However there're plenty of trades and even companies having their own regulations which enforce lesser workhours. 36 is pretty uncommon though hence most likely a company agreement, OTOH 35 hours and 38.5h are quite common while 41h are definitely not (only few officials have that but can be exempt, too).

I was amazed, shocked, and moved by this! Paid vacations? Chefs serving lunch in school? Having breaks at your own home? Free fuckin colleges? Prisons where you're treated like a human being? And this all happens on the same Earth that i live in? Unbelievable! Man fuck being the most powerful country in the world, be good.

I hope America was watching. Socialized anything isn't by default a bad idea and many countries and their successes prove it. I think citizens of every country should be given the opportunity to travel and see how others live if only to see how good or how bad they have it so they can strive for a better life and better not necessarily being the acquisition of stuff.
