In 2002, cable news producer Kim Barker decides to shake up her routine by taking a daring new assignment in Kabul, Afghanistan. Dislodged from her comfortable American lifestyle, Barker finds herself in the middle of an out-of-control war zone. Luckily, she meets Tanya Vanderpoel, a fellow journalist who takes the shell-shocked reporter under her wing. Amid the militants, warlords and nighttime partying, Barker discovers the key to becoming a successful correspondent.

Pretty good movie. It's mainly a drama with comedy sprinkled throughout. Worth a watch.

ok first of all don't get confused by Tina Fey and the trailer, this is not a comedy. Its a war drama with some light moments. The first part is mediocre but the last part was pretty decent

It starts as a mess. The character is a confused middle aged woman in a personal crisis who has no idea of what she's doing and therefore, until she figures it out, we just get to watch her stumbling along. Eventually though, Kim snaps out of it, and finds her place and passion. From then on, the movie improves, and becomes totally worth watching. As stated by others, this isn't a comedy, but it isn't a typical war drama either. I'm not entirely sure I like the light-hearted tone given to the story, but there were some excellent sensitive moments. and the ending was quite satisfying.

A New York TV producer (Tina Fey) is sent to Afghanistan when the ‘main’ war reporters at her TV network are sent to Iraq. Whiskey Tango Foxtrot is a film caught in an identity crisis. It’s smart, funny, dramatic, has an all star-cast and yet gets caught in that no-man’s land so many ambitious mid-budget projects struggle with. It’s part character comedy, part romance, part commentary on journalism and yet fails to really capitalize on any of these elements. Instead we get a painfully predictable story that just goes through the paces without even trying to deviate from the Hollywood template. The first impression was the reaction to the title abbreviation, and then I thought I saw Jody Foster on the poster, but surprised to find Tina Fey in the trailer. It is a great war-drama, filled with lots of fun and hard to believe it is a biography. More
