Dont FUninteresting crime told to seem more interesting. The most morbid and disturbing part of it is the meth-addicted mother using her child as part of her deep dive revenge story. It definitely caused a lot of harm and reminded me of the impact of Dont Fuck With Cats, which similarly was a documentary that gave me mixed feelings. Still quite disturbing and a good examination of gang culture and how someone's upbringing affects their choices. I particularly liked the section which attempts to humanise the 5150 members.

the only people i felt any real sympathy for in this other than the victim was belinda's niece for being allowed to and then pressured to catfish a potential suspect in her cousin's murder USING SAID COUSIN'S FACE AND GENERAL PERSONALITY, and julio heredia's sister. and a tiny bit for jokes experiencing what had to be the most upsetting catfish reveal ever, but also not really. that's it. everyone else in this piece was either somewhat easy to empathize with if i tried or they were just downright awful.

also: this was laid out in a way that unnecessarily makes belinda being a meth addict and dealer up until the very night of her daughter's death something of a slow reveal, like she was somehow more palatable with less of this information revealed? i'm gonna say she was never palatable.

Interesting story told in an interesting way. Kinda messed up to play catfish detective as a dead person. More messed up that it's the only thing the broke the case and gave the cops an actual lead. Smh all around.
