Any movie that features Martin Landau as an insane Army sergeant and Jack Palance as a nearly as crazed hunter is a step ahead from the start.

I could not believe the movie's finale, which featured Palance running full speed toward the "boss" alien that's standing next to a dynamite-filled shack in the woods. It's a suicide mission for Jack, but not a dignified one, as he's screaming "Alien!!! Alien!!!" as he runs. It's hilarious and really makes up for the rest of the movie, which moves at a snail's pace.

There is one other cool moment late in the movie when the two teenage heroes are in a cabin and are shocked by the boss alien who menacingly points and groans at them. It's brief, but it's the only good scare in the movie.

Look (or maybe don't look) for a super young David Caruso in a minor role, wearing a disturbingly short pair of gym shorts.

Love these old sci fi classics

Complete junk, but watching Palance and Landau chew scenery is fun. Early appearance by David Caruso also interesting. Cameron Mitchell, as always, does not disappoint.

A serviceable alien invasion/slasher hybrid. It starts off incredibly fun but the rest of the film is just not as exciting as I was expecting, besides the cool looking gooey flying bloodsucking disc creatures. This film is not as frightening as it desperately wants to be and suffers from a lot of padded out scenes. The premise is your typical backwoods slasher with interesting alien encounter twist, but they never really do enough to make it the highlight, which is clearly the excellent practical effects. That said, there are a few decent moments which still manage to be make this a fair time despite feeling a bit mediocre overall.
