Any movie that features Martin Landau as an insane Army sergeant and Jack Palance as a nearly as crazed hunter is a step ahead from the start.

I could not believe the movie's finale, which featured Palance running full speed toward the "boss" alien that's standing next to a dynamite-filled shack in the woods. It's a suicide mission for Jack, but not a dignified one, as he's screaming "Alien!!! Alien!!!" as he runs. It's hilarious and really makes up for the rest of the movie, which moves at a snail's pace.

There is one other cool moment late in the movie when the two teenage heroes are in a cabin and are shocked by the boss alien who menacingly points and groans at them. It's brief, but it's the only good scare in the movie.

Look (or maybe don't look) for a super young David Caruso in a minor role, wearing a disturbingly short pair of gym shorts.
