The movie didn't had a great impact on me (it was too much "hey look what I can do" stuff).
But the Soundtrack is just KICK-ASS/BRILLIANT/EXCELLENT - OMG!

My third viewing of X-Men: First Class. I thought about watching all of the X-Men films since I'm super excited for X-Men: Days of Future Past next week!! But I decided to stick just for this one to get into the X-Men spirit!

Possibly my favorite X-Men movie. It has its flaws but I usually like origin stories the most and this time it's no exception. The story between Charles and Erik is just beautiful. Raven and Hank are also very interesting characters.

Young charles can be a bit of a dick but he's still cool.

Also: The soundtrack was awesome!

After X-Men: The Last Stand, people thought mutants were done for. Then X-Men: First Class came out and it was pretty refreshing to see it in a new light. While I did enjoy this, Michael Fassbender is the standout by a mile. Wish we had a Magneto film made just like Logan.

Finally...a movie that is worthy of the X-Men tag.

Excellent acting, impressive storytelling, and a rather good director usually make a good movie. X-Men:The First Class is no exception. Matthew Vaughn has made something this franchise really deserved AND needed...

There are only a few things that kind of annoyed me with this one. When Beast become...well...Beast, he looks weird...very weird. The second is that January Jones as Emma Frost is just put in there as eye candy. She has no real impact on anything. But hell...I won't complain too much about that. She's in her underwear most of her on-screen time...

Despite the above-mentioned faults, I really love this movie. If you haven't seen it, you really should. Even my better half likes this one, and she usually doesn't like superhero movies.

I still find the young up-and-coming mutants in the movie extremely cheesy, but apart from that, the filmmaker did pretty much everything right when they restarted the series. The main actors were well chosen. The basic mood is somewhere on a serious drama level with a good portion of humor.

Basically, the film lives through James McAvoy and above all Michael Fassbender. Especially Fassbender gives Erik Lensherr exactly the depth that this character deserves. He is bitterly angry and cunning at the same time. Exactly that closes the circle to Sir Ian McKellen's performance in the original X-Men movie from 2000.

My favourite scene: Erik Lensherr's performance at the Villa Gesell, Argentina.

Good but not great. This X-Men origin story focuses primarily on Magento and Professor X and their first meeting and subsequent relationship. This is the strongest asset of the movie but it also features some good action especially the showdown between the X-Men and the U.S. and Soviet militaries.
Magneto played by Michael Fassbender is the star of the film. His backstory is very interesting and his obsession with Sebastian Shaw portrayed with nearly equal verve by Kevin Bacon drives the movie.
Charles Xavier (James McAvoy) is a stabilizing presence. He's a regular big brother to the rest of the X-Men recruits. Those other X-Men are a bit of a bore and they all have their special moment to show off their powers some of which are okay but most are underwhelming.
There are all sorts of alternative messages cultural and political that I think are being delivered throughout but I chose to ignore the metaphors and take it at face value. That helped me enjoy it more I think.

Glad to see that the franchise can work without Wolverine front and center, you wouldn't know it from past movies.

i liked this even more on the rewatch tbh michael fassbender has chemistry with anything with a pulse
