I loved it. I loved the story, the acting, the cinematography (those long takes), the emotions, everything. Just a fantastic coming of age road trip movie.

A nearly perfect coming-of-age film about sexual discovery. Beautifully acted and incredibly well shot, it contains many of the trademarks that would go on to define Cuarón from here. However, there is a major, glaring flaw with the film: the narration. So much of the exposition and character development is achieved by spoonfeeding, it even highlights some of the subtleties that are already clear if you’re paying attention. Some of the added context is interesting, a lot of it is unnecessary. Besides that, I thought this was emotionally reasonant, profound and technically impressive. It also does a great job at subverting your expectations; the poster and premise hint at a certain type of movie, but that’s not the direction it goes into.

8/10

I think that the premise was promising but the delivery left a lot to be desired. I guess it was interesting that in some ways the female was immature like the boys were, but she was still well beyond them. Many parts of the movie (narration, final scenes) just felt amateurish.

Y Tu Mama Tambien is a coming-of-age story about sexuality and betrayal. It's a sad story, but it's real. Cinematically, there is much to praise.

"Y Tu Mamá También" is a stunning exploration of sexuality, frienship, social class and a nuanced exploration of Mexican culture and society, and the issues that affect its people

And so it is, I have finally watched this film. It was awesome, had such a good time watching it and the social commentary as the backdrop (and simultaneously the stand out feature) for the film was really hard-hitting and my favourite part. i freaking love road movies and this is definitely one of the best.
