You ever have a conversation with a strange kid who drags out his stories and makes them unnecessarily long to the point you want to reach out and shake him until he moves on to the meat of the tale? That's what watching _Zombi Child_ feels like. Well, not exactly. Sadly, the film _Zombi Child_ is only the 3rd act and the first hour and ten minutes is a different movie I like to call Girl's Boring School. It's like a snail on a track because it is very slow as it goes around in circles. The zombie origin story complete with scenes filmed in Haiti is fascinating, and the zombie rite at the end impresses, but the rest of the film is fluffy WTF filler.

Zombification as a form of postcolonial slavery. The dead live second lives. "La vie et la mort sont indissociable". Adolescence is also a form of slavery, attached to love feelings. The stories intersect. Teenagers look more dead than the dead themselves. The end is hasty, unfinished. Death wins over life.
