After the train to Busan, another very original Korean take on the zombie movie. It's mostly a comedy and though the whole thing feels a little long, it's constantly punctuated by very funny moments.

It is a little slow to start, and almost everything is just a bit too long. It's a shame because it gives this constant feeling that the movie is dragging on during almost the whole duration when just removing a few minutes here and there would have been enough for it to be much smoother.

First part, with the zombie encounter and the mandatory "what's this weird guy problem ?" scenes is a good intro.

Then comes the original idea: zombie bite
makes people younger
. Great concept, and the family turning it into a business even more.

Obviously it turns into more classical zombie effects in the end, you know it's coming, it's just impossible that it wouldn't happen, but it so slow to come that at some point during the movie one starts doubting. Follows some classical zombie apocalypse scene, nothing special, still more comedy than horror though.

Then the family trying to escape, while arguably being the most action packed part of the movie, feels very long.

Conclusion and the switch to
the ather curing zombies by biting them
adds a nice final twist, extending the original concept.

Anyway, lots of funny moments, definitely the best point of the movie. That out of nowhere flying kick in the beginning was amazing. The zombie love for cabbage (and ketchup), though a little repetitive, works quite well. The biting sessions, even more the second one are hilarious. The father getting constantly beaten when they think he's turning, how they constantly fuck up when trying to escape the zombie apocalypse, having
pulled out the zombie teeth just before realizing that they want him to bite, the use of the denture
, etc, etc.

Apart from that the characters are well developed, each member of the family has its own gimmick and main scenes/storyline. The father getting beaten, the younger brother trying to steal the zombie to make money, the daughter and her almost love story with the zombie, ...

In conclusion, it's well done, looots of interesting novel ideas, looots of very funny moments. Too bad, just cutting maybe 15-20 minutes would have left the overall impression of constantly loving it and made it so much better. Instead I can't let go of the feeling that it was also constantly borderline boring.
